Buju Walks Free Tomorrow
Reggae roadshow in his honour in T&T to celebrate

In less than 24 hours Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton (Mark Myrie) will be a free man.

Buju’s release from the McRae Correctional Facility in Georgia, USA, will bring to an end a near ten-year sentence on drug charges. He is expected to be deported to Jamaica upon release. The greater significance of his freedom, at least for local reggae fans, is it brings the music icon one step closer to his much anticipated concert appearance in Trinidad on April 22.

Wish him well and I hope he stays away from the bad elements and young fools that got him into trouble in the 1st place. There are a lot of Big people in his corner and a lot who have helped him from Day 1 and we all hope that's where the foundation can continue upon his release.

Grand release party planned for Buju in PoS
None in Jamaica but

The release of dancehall singer Mark Anthony Myrie, better known as Buju "Gargamel" Banton, will be marked today by the Reunification Massive Freedom Road Show.

The event, organised by High Frequency Entertainment, will celebrate Banton's release from the McRae Correctional Facility in Georgia, US. The reggae superstar, known for his hit songs such as I Wanna Be Loved, Champion, Driver, and Not an Easy Road, was found guilty of possession of a firearm and cocaine for trafficking in June 2011.

Jamaica media reported the singer had been released today.

Question: Is Buju any bigger a criminal than the man you love to brown nose and hail as the messiah: DJ Trump?

(JAMAICA GLEANER) The Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, Jamaica was the centre of all activity — as far as reggae music lovers are concerned — moments ago, as dancehall-turned reggae superstar Mark ‘Buju Banton’ Myrie touched down after spending eight years imprisoned in the United States.

Professor Donna Hope, culture expert, said that the outflow of love and support for Myrie speaks volumes to the impact of his music and personal life. “For many people, Buju Banton is like the prodigal son returning to the fold,” she told The Gleaner earlier today.
