Cameron hints at coming cricket policy changes

Slipfeeler 2018-12-08 19:01:13

"He argued that the team’s current struggles are due to the players’ lack of commitment to the West Indies.

The Windies lost in all three formats to India recently as well as an away test series to Bangladesh for the first time in their history."

Cameron also posited the view that the problem extends beyond the field of play.

“We are challenged as a people as everybody wants the game to be over in three hours and we all want to get rich very, very quickly.”

He noted that at an upcoming board meeting serious decision around Windies cricket policy would have to be made.

“Part of our problem is that we have players who are going in and out of the system. They are not fit enough; we’ve spent millions of dollars to bring them to where they are at, and we need players to commit to the West Indies,” said Cameron.

He further argued that the public should also hold players accountable for their lack of commitment."

Could you please state your reference for this post?

Slipfeeler 2018-12-08 19:03:48

I agree that players should be accountable for lack of commitment and poor performances but similarly, CWI should be accountable to the various regional boards and WI cricket fans.

Look it is crystal clear that the Regional Cricket Boards are as bad or even worse than the Worst International Cricket Board in the
Commonwealth , aka the WICBC .

WHEN AN ENTITY FORMED IN 1928 ,

BLUNTLY REFUSES TO CHANGE ITS

STRUCTURE AFTER 90 FREAKING YEARS ,

AND COMMISSIONING VARIOUS REPORTS ;

AND THEN IGNORES THE FINDINGS

OF THOSE REPORTS .

THIS SPEAKS VOLUMES REGARDING THE

STEWARDSHIP OF THOSE IN THE WICBC

OVER THESE 90 FREAKING YEARS .

The Questions that must be asked of those in the WICBC over these 90 years are these , never mind that some are dead .

AT THE ZENITH OF WEST INDIES CRICKET

DID THE PEOPLE IN THE WICBC SECURE

FINANCIAL SPONSORS TO MAINTAIN THE

COMPETITIVENESS OF OUR PLAYERS ?????

WHAT MEASURES WERE PUT IN PLACE TO

ENSURE THAT OUR PLAYERS WERE ALWAYS

FULLY COMPETITIVE IN THE

INTERNATIONAL CRICKET ARENA ?????

WHAT ACTIVE MEASURES DID THE WICBC

TAKE TO ENSURE THAT OUR PLAYERS

REMAINED FULLY COMPETITIVE IN THE

INTERNATIONAL CRICKET ARENA WHEN THE

INTERNATIONAL TOUR SCHEDULE WAS

CHANGED ?????

WHY WAS THE ACADEMY IN GRENADA

CLOSED ?????

WHY WAS THE ACADEMY IN BARBADOS

CLOSED ?????

WHY IS IT THAT THE WICBC BLUNTLY

REFUSES TO HIRE FORMER GREAT

REGIONAL PLAYERS ?????

THIS IS VERY ODD WHEN ONE CONSIDERS

THE FACT THAT THAT IT WAS OUR FORMER

GREAT PLAYERS WHO WERE RESPONSIBLE

FOR HARNESSING & HONING THE SKILLS

OF OUR PLAYERS IN THE SHORTEST

VERSION OF THE GAME .

There is no much confusion with WI cricket with so much distractions, while we are talking the team is failing and falling lower. No one seems to know the real way forward.

They want to stop issuing NOCs for foreign T20 leagues

Slipfeeler 2018-12-08 20:41:31

In reply to Narper

I think that they should instead work out a formidable way out for players to play T20 yet remain committed to WI duties, similar like that of other cricketing nations. For its becoming more apparent that we need experienced players but it's impossible for them to play consistently motivated with quality performances if they feel they are been undermined by CWI.
Time for open contracts with every player provide CWI with their intended cricket schedules in advance to match with WI scheduled matches, so to work out an amicable agreement and working relationship. This will avoid any feeling of suspicion between both CWI and players. This is the role that WIPA should have been playing in order to work out such amicable work contracts.

Name a few countries that have that agreement?
We saw South Africa players, leaving the CPL for an award ceremony, players from other top countries are available to represent their country.
We have a problem with the top players, playing in every T20 league tournament.

The palyers are not happy with their employer and have no guarantee of employment. The team is picked based on who likes who and where you are from and not on talent or performance. So the players look out for themselves. Full stop. Crooked Dave is calling for players acccountability but he and his brigands have none. What crooked Dave and his band of bandits have done is treason and they should be in jail.

Dude, be real.
These guys have been ignoring selection, prior to Cameron presidency.

Bravo, told us, who he is committed to, so to talk about selection policy, is not debating the issue.

Having worked for a fortune 100 company in New York in the past, I've concluded that very few employees world wide are happy with their employers.

Employees are always disgruntled even when they are making lots of money. Some are justified but the rest are chronic complainers.

Keep in mind that the current West Indian contracted players, make more money than most professional and highly educated folk in the Caribbean.

And, they can't even beat Bangladesh with all that money in their pocket. Perhaps when they go out to bat they think more about the BMW than the ball out of the hand.

Bowled! "He ran down the wicket!" Perhaps heading to the Wagon?

sunfish 2018-12-08 21:45:18

I'm proposing that the WI players' pay should be based on performance. Like most other institutions.

This means the K Braithwaite, Hope, Chase and Powell owe the WICB money.

Bingo!

I am tending towards concurring with you that based in the consistent failures of the WI team, it might be now time to pay players based upon performance, especially those who are guaranteed selection on the test team. This might be the only way to motivate them to perform consistently.

ALL if not most of the concerns those
in the WICBC currently have is going
to be about SELF PRESERVATION .

WHY IS IT THAT IN ITS 90 YEARS OLD

STRUCTURE & HISTORY THE WICBC HAS

BLUNTLY REFUSED TO CHANGE , IN GOOD

TIMES & BAD TIMES .

International Cricket is not inertia
some years ago the New Zealand Cricket Board realized that it was
failing Cricket in New Zealand ; its
Team was losing matches .

THE NEW ZEALAND CRICKET DECIDED TO

CHANGE ITS MODUS OPERANDI , AND THEN

ITS PLAYERS STARTED BEING

COMPETITIVE AGAIN .

Our problem is that the Current

MIMIC MEN IN THE GOVERNANCE OF WEST

INDIES CRICKET RELISH APING THOSE

WHO STARTED THE WICBC 90 YEARS AGO .

This is manifested in their aloof
and disdain that they have towards
our Players . Essentially they believe in a Masters & Serfs Philosophy .

The Players must never have any input or suggestions in matters pertaining to Cricket .

SHUT UP AND PLAY , WE DO NOT NEED

ANY IDEAS OR INPUT FROM YOU .

NOW THIS WAS IN SHARP CONTRAST TO

OUR FORMER GREAT PLAYERS WHO WERE

IN CHARGE OF THE SHORTEST FORMAT OF

THE GAME .

Those former Great Players harnessed
and hone the Skills of Our Players to the point where they won 2 consecutive World Championships in
the shortest version of the game .

WHEN THE WORST INTERNATIONAL CRICKET

BOARD IN THE COMMONWEALTH REGAINED

CONTROL OF THIS FORMAT OF THE GAME ,

THE WICBC FIRED THOSE FORMER

PLAYERS. THIS FOLKS AINT A FIGMENT

OF MY IMAGINATION .

THE RESULTS OF THIS DECISION ARE

SLAPPING US IN OUR FACES EVERY

FREAKING DAY , I HOPE THAT PEOPLE IN

THIS FORUM GET THE GIST OF WHAT I

HAVE STATED HERE ; BECAUSE IT AINT

COMPLICATED .

A very salient question that has not to my knowledge has not been asked and is very Important regarding West Indies Cricket ; and it is this :

WHY WAS THE CRICKET ACADEMY IN

BARBADOS CLOSED ?????

People who run around being critical
of Our Players need to address this
ISSUE .

I HAVE NOT HEARD ANY OF THE FAUX

SPORTS JOURNALISTS IN THE REGION ASK

THIS QUESTION TO THOSE IN THE WORST

INTERNATIONAL CRICKET BOARD IN THE

COMMONWEALTH , AKA THE WICBC .

Perhaps they have asked , and it has
escaped my notice , so I would like
to know whether that was done by any
Sports Writer or Sports Hosts on Radio or TV .

Yes the players are poor, so whose responsibility it is to make them better, but the West Indies Board, first and foremost.

And they've been doing a very lousy job from time immemorial. Look at the people they hire to coach these players.... non entities from far and near who have zero credentials relative to playing
achievements.

Also the Board pays little attention to improving the piss poor facilities ie, the pitches at the various venues that are mostly so low and slow, they kill every chance of developing batsmen and bowlers.

Wasn't the ICC plan to cap players to three T/20 tournaments per year?

No doubt it will lead to court action if it ever is implemented.

THE WORD I WANT TO HEAR IS STRUCTURE

IT SURE AINT POLICY . STRUCTURE

ENCOMPASSES EVERYTHING . POLICY DOES

NOT EMBRACE STRUCTURE .

Once again the Worst International
Cricket Board in the Commonwealth ,
via its President is seeking to Bamboozle the Public in the Region .

Let me remind All & Sundry in this Forum this freaking Fact :

FOR YEARS THE WICBC HAS COMMISSIONED

SEVERAL REPORTS . THOSE IN THE WICBC

CANNOT STATE WHAT CHANGES THEY HAVE

MADE AS A RESULT OF THE REPORTS THEY

COMMISSIONED .

Obviously then this latest utterance
of the President is yet another effort to Bamboozle the People in
the Region .10 to 1 this Policy is
going to be about Our Players ; and
have absolutely nothing to do with
the Structure of West Indies Cricket.

BTW THERE ARE 21 DAYS LEFT IN THE

YEAR ; WHERE THE HELL IS THE WEHBY

REPORT ?????

The WICBC & its Satellites are a Colossal Jokes . Just Imagine an Entity that is in control of West Indies Cricket , that has bluntly refused to change its 90 years old
Structure :

THIS IS AFTER COMMISSIONING SEVERAL

REPORTS ; AND THEN SUMMARILY

DISCARDED THOSE REPORTS . DESPITE

THIS ITS LOYAL SUPPORTERS IN THE

REGION AND IN THIS FORUM , REMAIN

OBLIVIOUS TO ITS GROSS INCOMPETENCE;

INEPTNESS ; LACK OF VISION ; LACK OF

COUTH ; FILLED WITH SELF IMPORTANCE

; FILLED WITH ANIMOSITY TOWARDS

THEIR EMPLOYEES .

Obviously such an Entity is bound to fail , and WE are witnessing that
right now in West Indies Cricket .

THEY bluntly refuse to do any Self
Examination , as a result THE MIMIC MEN keep Perpetually ending up with
Eggs on their faces .

THEY AND THEIR MANY SERFS IN THE

MEDIA RELISH PLACING ALL THE BLAME

ON THE PLAYERS .

SO WAS IT THE PLAYERS THAT CLOSED

THE CRICKET ACADEMIES IN GRENADA &

BARBADOS ??

WAS IT THE PLAYERS WHO MANDATED A

2 WEEKS CAMP BEFORE EMBARKING ON

INTERNATIONAL TOURS ?????

WAS IT THE PLAYERS FAULT ON A TOUR

TO NEW ZEALAND , A MATCH WAS PLAYED

AND NEW ZEALANDERS HAD TO PLAY FOR

OUR TEAM , BECAUSE WE DID NOT HAVE

11 PLAYERS ON THE FIELD ????

WHY DID THE PRESIDENT OF THE WICBC ,

WHO WAS IN DUBAI ; REFUSE TO GO TO

INDIA TO SALVAGE THE TOUR ????

DESPITE THE ABOVE THE SERFS OF THE

WICBC IN THE SPORTS MEDIA CONTINUE

TO WORSHIP THOSE IN THE WICBC , AKA

THE WORST INTERNATIONAL CRICKET

BOARD IN THE COMMONWEALTH .
