Panday says Guyana incident cannot happen in tt
The collapse of the David Granger-led government in Guyana following a no-confidence motion cannot happen in TT due to the differences in political systems.
Thats the word from former Prime Minister Basdeo Panday who, in a telephone interview yesterday, also predicted that elections due in 2019 and 2020 will witness the two main parties, (the ruling PNM and the Opposition UNC) play musical chairs in the Parliament unless constitutional reform becomes a reality.
Local Government election is due in 2019 while general elections are due in 2020.
If there is no change in the political system what will happen here will be a continuation of musical chairs in the parliament where either one of the racial groups or blocks will be in office. It will be as simple as that, it has been happening for what, 46 years, and will not change unless there is constitutional reform.
Panday said this was his message at a function hosted by Chaguanas West MP Ganga Singh in Chaguanas last week.
The call for unity that I have made is a call for people to be united, not necessarily parties, but people to be united in a struggle for constitutional reform.

I thought Trinidad was this cool cosmopolitan country where the races and ethnicities intermingle and get along like peas in bod. Or is that only slightly at Wuk up time?
Or, moreso, is it that Trinis like to pretend, while just below the surface there is all this pent up tension just about to explode like a volcano, sending a not too surprising tsunami across the land?
Trinis, tell me it aint so.

Truth is as you said.
Trinis are a racist bunch
Indians don't like black and blacks don't like indian
Politics in TnT is all about race.
Check the social media for all the nasty racist comments.
I think when Trump was talking about shithole countries he was talking about TnT
Indians love Kamla, blacks love Rowley.
All a bunch of assholes

Putting aside all the issues concerning Panday, this is what he's saying....
"The collapse of the David Granger-led government in Guyana following a no-confidence motion cannot happen in TT due to the differences in political systems."
Trinidad, like most of the Caribbean, have a straightforward first-past-the-post electoral system. Guyana's electoral system is more complicated, implemented by the British in the 1960s, in an effort to keep Jagan out of power. This system seems to ensure that Guyana's government will lack the number of seats to allow it to be an effective government.

Truth is "Indo" Guyanese in here always trying to equate us and their society and with their nasty racism.
We have no similarity politically speaking with Guyana- in the surface it may seem similar but as you know, when you dig deep, the differences are also very deep.
I think it is what Bas was saying.
This is not to say, we don't have a few "Indo's" in Trinidad and the UNC party attracts all of them.
I would estimate that from that approximate 45% of the population that is of South Asian India decent, about 5% are probably "Indos."

It can happen in any English speaking Caribbean Country cause governance is based on majority. The other countries have not had to rely too heavily on coilition governments and have for the most part managed to avoid what happened in Guyana, more from party members circling the wagon than any thing else. There are hovever several cases of poltiticians crossing the floor and helping to form Governments

As ToTrini said just check on social media for all the nasty racist comments coming out of t&t from both sides.
Have you been following what goes on in T&T parliament?
Do you believe there are no douglas in Guyana...do you believe on a daily basis Indo and Afro guyanese do not get along...have you seen the composition of cricket crowds at Providence?

Even among Africans and Indians of different shades in their own motherlands there exists 'differences',imagine people using Panday's own political agenda to make a broad parallel and ultimate conclusion,no sir different dynamics here!
Misery love company..

Political minions and miscreants mostly..attempting to exploit any semblance of a difference to push their broader agenda which is simply the lust for power..there's no active racial persecution here bro or even a chance of it happening,it simply cannot..everybody have ah Indian or a Creole family..and our differences are actually celebrated and supported in music culture public holidays etc....
Black man gonna stop eat doubles ,saheena, baigani, aloo pie pholourie and roti? I don't think so..Indian gonna stop eat pelau, oxtail and cow heel soup,salt-fish and provisions, souse and chow? I don't think so...
Lol it infused bro...

the same thing could happen in other Caribbean countries, while there are two parties for the most part currently, nothing in the constitution stops multiple parties from entering parliament, hence anyone can have a government that is not a majority.

How is Trinidad different from Guyana - Politically speaking - both countries mostly vote by race.
To Emir's point - UNC attract those indian, but buries his head in the sand by refusing to say the same for PNM who also attracts those blacks.
Why is it that we can party together but not vote the same way.
What have I said that says that I want war with both races. The reality is sweet TnT is not as sweet you pretend it to be. It is a very raciest country.
This is displayed on the social media every day
