The WI Fast bowling.
So, wtf has become of AlJo?
i dont believe we should cast away cummins as yet
In reply to BeatDball
Aljo was hurt for a long time...Im not disputing his status.
OSHANE!
In reply to analyst-kid
Whatever happened to that other Yardie soldier boy? I'm not referring to Cottrel.
Leveridge?...He's not impacting much in the FC season thats all I can say.
The names I am hearing are ALJO, CUMMINS, LOUIS...ppl talking about HARDING'S pace.
Back in 1977 two fast bowlers both took four wickets each playing for a President Eleven against a full strength Pakistan team: Garner and Croft.
We might need to see them vs ENG in this kind of team.
Of Course IAN ALLEN and HAMISH ANTHONY also did well in a Prez 11 and made the WI team.
WI should be fielding a quartet when available.....a fast bowling quartet that is. They are the best bowlers available. Warrican can only contain and bishoo can't even do that much less take wickets. When al jo recovers i would like to see the formation as
Gabriel
Holder....begrudgingly(still don't understand how he gets wickets)
Oshane
Al JO
i know its controversial but ever since roach had that accident he has lost significant pace and hence significant threat
The young Odean from Jamaica looks promising
In reply to Jumpstart
I agree re Roach but look! He still MAINTAINS a healthy sub 30 average.
KEMAR ROACH 50 TESTS...166 WICKETS @ 28.61 ECON 3.21 8 5fers...TEST AVG IN THE WI: 23.52
WI cannot afford to leave out a fastbowler with those stats...its not like 1988 with Garner retiring and Ambrose replacing him!
In reply to Jumpstart we need 5 bowlers to win test matches.
In reply to natty_forever
west indies only problems now is batting. The bowling attack is quite good. In england last year we were far from disgraced, only the batting and holder's dotish captaincy decisions cost us the series. Only in the nz series last year were we hammered
In reply to Jumpstart… only time we looked good in test is when we played 5 bowlers, yet and the reason for the batting issues is because we trying a quantity thing instead of a quality thing. 5 batsmen and a wkt-keeper bats outperforms 6 bats and the wkt-keeper at 7.
Find two good openers and our win/loss ratio will improve.
In reply to sunfish
Find two good openers 4 middle order batsmen, a keeper and 4 bowlers and our win/loss ratio will improve.
In reply to analyst-kid
Quite a few young seamers around which is encouraging.
Spin options, they don't appear very good at International level, maybe time to give Motie a chance.
An opener, getting Bravo back, someone at 6 and a spinner would improve the side.

Ye of little faith
If WI wants to win test matches with a weak batting line up then it is obvious we will need to bowl sides out quickly. Bishoo or Warrican may get some wickets once in a while but can they get the opposition out for under 300?
We need 4 fast bowlers and one slow bowler/batsman to 'rest' the fast bowlers. With this combination our batsmen will not be running around in the field for 2 days and we will win a few more than we are doing now.
From what u guys are postings,I conclude that we need the oppsition to be weaker.

Damn you!!
In other words, to play at WI level.
Those igrunt so and so want to drop Roach - the best bowler since Ambrose and Walsh.
In reply to TheTrail
That your hommie, good bowler, tell your boy at Spartan he need to make some runs to be in the game against MCC.
In reply to TheTrail
Kemar is not the same bowler, after his injury.
In reply to tc1
Can you tell this mb, why the player after 11 years at regional, merit selection.
Check his stats out, Bajan used to want our best to be selected, not any Bajan we seem to be proud of his being selection..

It funny everyone saying Roach not the same yet here are the stats
vs Eng 2017 - 29.81
vs Zimi 2017 - 17.25
vs NZ 2017 - 28.50
vs Sri 2018 - 25.54
vs Bang 2018 (home) - 1.60
vs Bang 2018 (away) - 45
What more you all want from Roach? Roach is being consistent. Mitchell Starc & Josh Hazlewood over the last year averaging 33+ for Australia.
Our best fast bowlers are nowhere close to the best of other test playing countries, they may just be comparable to Ireland and Afghanistan.
I think the trio of Gabriel, Roach & Holder compliment each other well and it is the best attack the Windies have, it's actually when they don't play together that the Windies have recently struggled.
To say that they aren't close to other International attacks bar Ireland & Bangladesh is bullshit.
I agree with WICFan that these three complement one another. However, we need a fourth quick and a spinner because Holder is by nature a fourth bowler with his pace. We have to play 5 bowlers as our only hope is to be able to bowl other teams out for a competitive score for our perpetually weak batting. if Paul is our fourth bowler, we have the advantage of batting to No 7 with Holder and two men in Roach and Paul who can probably make another 50 between them. That is worth more than another very ordinary middle order batsman. It does not make sense to pack the middle order as even a 400+ score does not matter if you cannot bowl the other side out for under 500.

coming from you on Roach, I take a pass, I know how sweet you were on Roach from his youth days.your support for Roach is unquestionable.
question for you , why he is unable to generate a higher speed, in football Manning was able to reconstruction his shoulder as good as the old and throw the ball wit great velocity.
focus more on the restructuring on the shoulder, more than the speed .

Up to this day I will probably going to my grave wondering why in the last test vs Bangladesh, WI went for Amris and Shermon Lewis and made Reifer and Paul sit down.
Reifer and Paul I argue would have given WI MORE batting and certainly MORE bowling than Lewis and Ambris. Bangladesh went on to make a record 500 against us and won the test series handily.
Now today we discussing WI fastbowling....where is Shermon Lewis in the midst of all this discussion?
In reply to analyst-kid
Hopefully you learn now that what we discuss here means fuck all
Dont know why you wukkin up yuhself over it
In reply to openning
I cannot follow your argument.
he has put up the numbers for the last 3 years and has scored at the A team level, he has to be in the mix, he is one of the best performer on the last 3 year.
