Selectors should stop picking these mediocre slow bowlers. We have Chase and the likes who can turn their arms slowly and also make an impact with the bat.

We dont have any world class Spin bowlers
Well spotted
In reply to Brundog
And neither do we have any world class Fast bowlers.
Gabriel, Roach? An emphatic no!
In reply to Brundog
Don't worry, we have world-class pacemen, world-class batsmen, world-class 'keepers and world class allrounders!
Our only problem is in the spinning dept.
In reply to Brundog
Yet the spinners dominate domestic cricket year after year.

Gabriel, Roach? An emphatic no!
Holder ranked 12th Gabriel ranked 13 Roach ranked 25....how is it an emphatic no?
In reply to Drapsey
Name your fast bowlers in the WI team that are world class, excluding Holder, Gabriel, and Roach. Name them if yuh have balls.
In reply to Brundog
And we never will, because we don't value spin, or nurture our spin stock. Hence we limit our chances of becoming a more competitive team internationally.
Worse, some of us proudly demand and recommend that this serious flaw in our bowling attack be a deliberate "strategy"! That says it all.

so where the pacers rank?
In reply to Brundog
so true
In reply to googley
You know our batsmen play pace in regional conditions better than spin and our current generations have been hopeless in spin friendly conditions
Our spin situation is complicated. Many ofour regional spinners are not very good but will get cheap wickets to WI batsmen as long as they can keep it tight. That then creates a problem for the attacking spinners who make it to WI level. WI captains, Holder included cannot set fields to an attacking spinner or any spinner for that matter. This is compounded by the fact that they see spinners as holding up an end to rest the pacers and not as full-fledged attacking options. If they are used in this way, they will be ineffective and surplus to requirements. Therein lies our problem.

Do you think that the current captain will deny any of our spinners their wish as regards field placings?
In reply to TheTrail
what's the problem with you?
In reply to jaba
No but as I sais don't think WI captains have a clue about spin. This does not negate the fact that most of our spinners are rubbish at international level-not the only ones mind you- we have batsmen who fit that too.

Now let's study your post in detail:
(i) The spin situation in the Caribbean is complicated.
(ii) Many of our spinners are not good but they will get cheap wickets at regional level if they can keep it tight.
(iii) You took quite a leap here with this next point - Our poor regional spinners make it difficult for the attacking ones when they get to play international cricket. You lost me here buddy - but I assume that those shitty spinners cannot keep it tight at the international level simply because of poor field placings caused by inept captains. But why can't our attacking spinners at int' level set their own fields to keep it tight and ultimately get wickets?
(iv) Spinners picked to the West Indies team are "surplus to our requirements." (You've got to be kidding)
You are saying "surplus to our requirements" but in the next sentence " herein lies our problems?"
This board is a repository for dumping shit (Back Room and Rum Room).
batsmen are bowled only so often, so until our learn players to field and take catches ALL our bowlers will be subpar.

sounds like we have a batting problem.
In reply to googley yeah - batsmen are hopeless against the googley
