Or, he is starting to show the lack of mental toughness that is needed for continuous high quality production.
Hety did very little in Bdesh, in either the ODIs or T20Is, after scoring a quick 90+ in one of the Tests. Was he tired already? That is not a good sign from such a young player. How will he fare in the professional T20 leagues? One cannot survive in those leagues by "picking and choosing".
This has been a problem with other good regional players too, with only Shiv Chanderpaul regularly displaying the toughness to take on tough opposition anytime. The regional players reap what they sow.
