Did you know?
-> In their last 25 Tests at the SCG, Australia have a 19-3 win-loss record. India's only win at the venue came in 1977/78.
-> Jasprit Bumrah needs two more wickets in the SCG Test to become the second fastest Indian bowler to 50 wickets after R Ashwin.
-> A win in Sydney would make Virat Kohli the most successful Indian captain with 27 Test wins alongside MS Dhoni.
-> If R Ashwin is ruled out, it will be only the second instance of India not featuring both him and Ishant Sharma in the playing XI since Ashwin's debut.

Virat Kohli:
We are gonna have a bit first. Looks like a pretty good wicket, good covering of grass on it. The spinners will come into play; an ddeal day to bat. We haven't discussed that to be honest. It's another Test match for our country, something we are very proud about. We have to play good, hard-fought cricket for the next five days. Rohit Sharma is back home. He's become a father which is a great thing. KL Rahul replaces him at the top of the order. Vihari comes in at six. Kuldeep Yadav comes in place of Ishant Sharma.

Tim Paine:
Tim Paine: We would have batted first too. There's a bit of grass coverage, hopefully we bring slips and keeper into play. We need to improve in all areas from Melbourne. We need to focus on doing the basics right. If we stay in the moment and put India under pressure, then we can be in the game. Marnus Labuschagne and Handscomb come back in. The top six - Khawaja will go to the top of the order. Marnus will bat at three, so we'll have Marsh, Head and Handscomb.

Pitch Report:
"This pitch has got a lot of moisture in it. It's very patchy. It will turn on day three, four and five. First two session on day 1, there'll be a bit for the pacers. You gotta bat first, but it won't be easy to bat in the first two session," reckons Brendon Julian.

Hazlewood to Rahul, out Caught by Shaun Marsh!! Josh Hazlewood strikes! Another failure for Rahul. This is the fourth time Hazlewood has snaffled Rahul. A 135.5kph, good length delivery around the nagging zone outside off, Rahul could have let that go, but he chases that with hard hands and gets a fat outside edge that goes straight into the hands of Marsh at first slip. That ball didn't move much in the air nor off the deck

Starc to Agarwal, FOUR, top-edge and four, Mayank has been hassled by Starc's pace and this was a rip-snorter, banged in short and kept climbing nastily onto the right-hander, Mayank had nowhere to go as he fended awkwardly at that, took his eyes off the ball and the top-edge off the glove popped over the slip cordon - might have grazed his helmet as well, could have so easily lobbed straight into the hands of one of the fielder

Pat Cummins to Pujara, no run, loud shout for Cummins, but he doesn't look convinced, Paine is though and Australia will review. Erasmus is into the action, it's a fair delivery, the ball was pretty close to the inside edge. HotSpot vision is obscured, RTS in and there's a flat line, NOT OUT is the call.Australia have lost their first review, lovely delivery from Cummins, got it to nip back in sharply and had Pujara cut in half, he was late in getting his bat down and the ball burst past his inside edge

Hazlewood to Pujara, no run, Pujara has copped a blow on his helmet, nasty short ball from Hazlewood, kept coming back at the batsman who ducked and took his eyes off the ball, hit the back of the helmet and then his neck - the pace was taken off by the blow on the helmet, else could have been an injury here
More work for Patrick Farhart as he jogs into the middle to have a look at the Indian number three. Looked comfortable, Pujara - but the protocol has to be followed.

Lyon to Agarwal, out Caught by Starc!! Finally, Agarwal has fallen into the trap. Lyon gets his revenge and India have lost their second wicket. Probably, he got carried away a bit. Tried to dictate terms, but Lyon roars. Looped up luringly, Agarwal skips out and wants to launch it out of the park for the second time. Miscues it horribly and ends up hitting it in the air towards long-on. Starc runs in forward and comfortably grabs it. Agarwal fails to convert his fifty into a three-figure mark, but he's played well

Oh jeez don't get me started on Henriques.
It's pronounced La-boo-skag-knee
The g is unfortunately a hard word to pronounce. Its requires that weird gravelly g sound you find it dutch/german/afrikaans.It's OK to say it with the 'g' you find in the word 'golf'.
The Aussie comms always seem to be the laziest when it comes to pronunciation and enunciation.

Lyon to Hanuma Vihari, out Caught by Labuschagne!! Hanuma Vihari has been given out caught and he wants a review. It's a fair delivery, went very close to the gloves as it popped off his fore-arm. Nothing much on the HotSpot, but there's a murmer on the RTS when the ball went past the bat, OUT is the call. Must say, this was coming, Hanuma looked all fidgety today, unable to force the pace against the seamers. Went down low very early as he attempted the lap sweep, couldn't get on top of the bounce as he did so, the ball grazed the top-edge before lobbing off his fore-arm, straight to Labuschagne at FSL who doesn't drop those. A wicket at the stroke of the hour for Australia, one that they needed batdly, ends a fine 101-run stand for the fifth wicket.

Four years back, when he toured Australia he'd scored just 201 runs in six innings and was dropped for the Sydney Test. Lyon to Pujara, out Caught&Bowled!! That's a soft dismissal for Pujara. A monumental knock comes to an end. Gets a rousing reception from the SCG crowd, Pant runs towards him and congratulates. Oh, he's missed his double century by just 7 runs. Pujara was looking a bit rusty in the last few overs as the runs weren't coming by. So he tries to do something out of the box and chips down the track, gets duped by the flight and drives it on the rise back to the bowler. Lyon accepts a rather simple return chance and Khawaja will breathe a sigh of relief.

Shami to Khawaja, no run, Pant has put this down. He dived in front of first slip, got there with both hands but couldn't hold on. Length ball from Shami that just held its line from round the wicket to find the edge. He was riding high on confidence after that hundred, just meets with a little bummer with the gloves

Bumrah to Marcus Harris, 3 runs, good start for Australia and Harris. Bumrah goes fuller and pitches it slightly up for Harris, to check his drive. Cleanly driven past mid-off and they will run hard to pinch the third

Kuldeep Yadav to Khawaja, out Caught by Pujara!! Oh, that's hideous. Trying to show his attacking instinct, Khawaja has mistimed it straight to Pujara at mid-wicket. Australia have lost their first wicket. Kuldeep tosses it up with lot more air, Khawaja jumped out of his crease and decided to smash it down the ground. The ball dipped and Khawaja was beaten in the flight as he ended up dragging it in the air. Kuldeep is pumped, gets the breakthrough for India. Leaps and celebrations.

Shami to Labuschagne, out Caught by Rahane!! That's a stunner and a flabbergasted Labuschagne walks off - shaking his head. This was full and on his pads, Labuschagne creamed the on-drive, doesn't bother to keep it on the ground. It was travelling and it went to the right of short mid-wicket where Rahane dived and completed a fine catch. Labuschagne was looking seriously good, but can't convert his start into something substantial.

Kuldeep Yadav to Paine, out Bowled!! Kuldeep has flummoxed the Australian captain with his box of trickery. Kept plugging with tight lines, superbly set-up. Classic from the Chinaman bowler. Tempts the batsman by tossing it up deliciously outside off around the footmarks. Paine winds up for the drive, playing away from the body. The ball dips, drifts and spins back in to sneak through the gate and shatters the top of leg-stump. The hosts have lost a wicket in the first over after the break.

Shami to Pat Cummins, out Bowled!! Shami has struck with the second new ball, he got his line right, the ball stayed very low and scooted under Cummins's bat. Not a lot he could do about it - Cummins, his battling effort is over. Shami shortened his length and got it to nip back into the right-hander, Cummins was caught on the back-foot, the ball never rose and went underneath his frailing bat. The off-stump is knocked out and India have the start they wanted.

Virat Kohli kisses the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which is handed to him by the great Allan Border himself. He's soon joined by his teammates. Kohli relegates himself to the periphery for the photograph, handing the trophy to Mayank Agarwal in the centre. There's this great vibe in the team, just soaking in the atmosphere and the celebrations. Some of the players have got their families onto the field to share this with them. It's all very great.
Cheteshwar Pujara, Player of the Match and Player of the Series: It's a great feeling for all of us. We've been working really hard to win a series overseas. And especially doing it in this country

Congrats to the Indian guys on here.
Bit of a downer how this match ended because India had the tools to get this done.
This team is going to win a lot of matches if they can get their selection issues sorted out.I think the quality of the pace unit really surprised the Aussies this series.
