records show the former MP almost every day between January 2017December 2018, frequented the Providence, East Bank Demerara casino. According to the records in the year 2017, Persaud lost US$5,796, while in 2018 his losses were US$7,033.
Can a person who has "an account" at a casino and visit that casino everyday" be considered an addict?
We know people who suffer from addiction, be it hard drugs, alcohol, gambling and other forms of this illness, are more often than not, incapable of making proper decisions and many times, their judgement can be compromise.
For people in important decision making positions, society must reevaluate and scrutinize their decisions to ensure sound judgment was applied and there was absent in inducement that feeds the person's addiction.

What do you think about the article? Was the allegations in that article correct?
I stand to be corrected but I have no reason to believe they have a witch hunt against the rebel

Everyone has vices...some womanizer, some gamble, some drink, some smoke and some come on CC and want you to confirm to their ideals.
I help old people cross the road so they can be with those unruly chickens.

racking up over USD12,829 in losses for the past two years.
Are you for real????
A successful lawyer ( even in Guyana) can't afford that?
Tons of hard core gamblers lose that and more in ONE hour....
Over two years???...obviously Charandas....is not hard core...if he is a gambler at all....man probably seeking some entertainment
Many NORMAL people would pay more than for entertainment...of one kind or another
BTW I was present at Red Spot at Curepe junction in 1980 when Max Senhouse lost 100,000 TT in the wappie room one night...and he walked away like nothing happened...no big thing

In 1938, uncle was baxed up by some british soldiers while minding his own business sitting on a culvert.
He was 14 at the time.

I do not believe those outside of the government is engaged in any witch hunt. There is a search for the truth and the majority of the media is on Charrandas' side. So no, you may call me naive, but I sincerely believe there is more to this than Charrandas just getting fed up of being a "yes man."
In fact, I believe it is naive of people to simply take Charrandas word at the full truth.

Oh come on now, just look at the facts, not the number of yes votes for a minute.
This Charrandas feller fooled quite a lot of good people.
Was this the same guy who said he was prepared to stay in Guyana and die for his decison when we now know he had planned his flight ahead of the vote.
And I ask again, what did he do to effectuate change from within when he was part of the government?
Look at his record

The coalition government was not operating according to the agreement they made with coalition partners.

Even if this was true, well lets say it was 100% so, professions, public officials and others are expected to uphold virtues their position demands.
A true professional would have fought from inside for the change he wish to see.
So I ask again, what had Charrandas do to effectuate change from within. I note no one is taking this question.

What could a backbencher do in the current parliamentary system????
He has no power in government.
As he has pointed out...open dissent
and he would have been fired and replaced.....in Guyana proportional representation is a different system as that existing in T&T...which is first past the post and MPs are elected....not appointed
Charandas's ROLE WAS DEFINED BY THE COALITION GOVERNMENT....
and it was to always vote YES and say or do nothing else.....which he did up the end....and now dem vex

Very devious and deceitful. You born so or people do you so?
said he was prepared to stay in Guyana and die for his decison
I wonder where he said that.
I know he gave the movie like dialogue, pran jayee par ..... my life may go but....
expected to uphold virtues their position demands
He did. The constitution grants each member one vote, not one party to vote for all. To continue being a yes man would have been unvirtuous.
Chandrradas is a hero for doing the right thing
according to his conscience/thinking/mind/logic/whim whatever you want to call it.
He was given that right per law, to exercise his vote..

Typical of most bullies, self centered/narcissist, they are busy admiring themselves in the mirror to pay attention to what is going on in their house, or they are quick to rebuke anyone who does not go along with Prump.
They cannot imagine anything can go wrong or be their fault. They are omnipotent. "Somebody musse do him. He tek bribe" whatever to deflect from their lack of introspection and their own downfall, culpability.

totally serious an evening happy-hour at a decent watering hole/restaurant average $115/Friday evening for two --- I would not begrudge my legislative representative taking that from the govt pettie cash ---- if he is doing a decent job --- double up on that.
