With the new running synthetic surface all the track records will be reset, having been established on the old grass track, but the field events won't be affected.

Action will be in the 100m, 800m, 3,000m, 5,000m, 70m, 80m, 100m and 110m hurdles events, with the 400m hurdles being a new event. The field events this year are long jump, discus, high jump, shot put and pole vault.

Seems like CBar, Jago and JC had a great time. We will have to wait to see what KC has to offer.

Meanwhile Petersfield dominating in the west. County of Cornwall FC Meet Shaquena Foote continues her amazing career. First in the 400mh and the 1500m

STETHS keeping their cards close to their chest.

I will get really excited when the 400m and to a lesser extent the 100m start.

Correction:
These rules came into effect Jan 1, 2019. They will not apply to athletes procured prior to that date. The effect of the new rules may not really be felt until the 2021 season when the number of eligible transferees would have dwindled to conform with the new rules.

Jamaica College's Safin Willis leapt an impressive 7.40m (0.4 mps) and won the Class One long jump in arguably the performance of the PureWater/JC/R Danny Williams Athletics meet yesterday.

The meet, held on the grounds of Jamaica College (JC), is one of the first athletic events this year and supporters turned out in their numbers to witness history being created on the newly laid eight lane red synthetic track.

With a seating capacity of approximately 2,000 over three stands to the right of the 100m lane, fans were treated to some outstanding performances which raised a few eyebrows and which signalled a good start to the year.

The attendance was better than at the last West Indies home Test match

And to think JC was my 1st choice at common entrance. However, did not regret one bit when they sent me to KC and discovered the absolute greatness of that institution.

KC did not send many athletes to this event as in previous years. Will have to wait and see down the road.

Could be a close one this year as the Hope Rd school is coming with all guns blazing.

Anyone reach out to Jamstar?

No info as yet. KC had some youngsters - class 3 and 4 - at the Excelsior Ted Dwyer Meet in December 2018. The class 3 and 4 had some promising 400m runners but that was a grass track so we need to see them on a real track.

Congratulations. JC has raised the bar for High School athletics infrastructure. Very impressive and I hear there are plans to make it even better.

I am keen to see how much progress JC makes this year with coach Harrison.

They have a lot of land up there. Two complete football fields so their infrastructure was well within means to improve.

JC look like they're coming to run this year, especially on the hurdles side.

Jago should make a statement....not to overlook them.

Class 3 Boys 400m Final Champs 2018

This was a very fascinating race. The top 3 boys were under 50 secs. From memory I can only remember Chris Taylor 48.72 and Bann 49.13 under 50 secs as class 3.

I am waiting with bated (6 pages were spent on the proper spelling of bated in the early years of CC.com) breath to see how these youth do in class 2.

Williams just needs to stop rocking from side to side and run upright with a little more kneelift and he will make a significant improvement.

I have been depending on the usually reliable JAAA website to see upcoming events but the site is not being updated as frequently as it should be. I will email Warren.

Second headmaster and member of the teaching staff from inception in '26 till retirement in '71.

KC has usually been well represented at Kirkvine which is a grass track. Nowadays coaches don't like to risk sprinters on grass. Sprinters may be at the DF Meet and distance runners at Kirkvine.

Michael Johnson recovers from stroke.

Nowhere in the article does it mention that MJ was checking his blood pressure before the stroke. He talks about eating right and keeping fit. If one is black checking one's blood pressure is also a requirement, especially after 40.
