The time has come to give this performer a shot

Fantom 2019-01-06 02:33:20

His name is Rakheem R S Cornwall. It is time to give him a chance to fail at the the international level. To continue to deny Cornwall a chance to play international cricket for the West Indies is the heights of irresponsibility from the selectors.

Selectors, please do your job and pick RRS Cornwall to the Test or ODI West Indies team.

Word is that Cornwall has not reached agreed to fitness goals and as such will not be selected.

natty_forever 2019-01-07 09:33:15

In reply to Larr Pullo… he is not the only that have not met these goals, yet the only one not selected.

An argument was made yesterday, by a female cricketer, that Cornwall should not be compared to other player's fitness.
He is able to bowl fifty overs, he can bat, and he is able to field in slips during a test or 4-day match.

Cornwall is not able to field in slips. That's a fallacy. Someone should remind her that the mens game is way more demanding than the womens game.

Cornwall must be selected, he has earned his selection.

I have a lot of time for Jimbo, he is not only a special talent but is a genuinely good guy, but there is no way in hell Jimbo gone be selected to the senior team during Pybus' tenure. Watch and see if i'm wrong.

This discrimination against fat people must stop!

Fat lives matter.

solidrock 2019-01-07 12:43:49

Cornwall reached selection for the paltry West Indies cricket men's team a very long time ago. I am hoping he does not quit the effort he gives most of the time.

The time has come to give this performer a shot

Not yet, not until VOR apologizes to Tamar Lambert and his supporters about that sustained if not relentless Fatbert campaign.

I believe Marlon Samuel in his younger days complained of the same thing with his knees . The selectors needed everyone to pass some rigorous test. Everytime Marlon did it , his knees came out swollen. Eventually they able to convince the power that be , that Marlon could be exempt provided other criteria were fulfilled.

8 wickets and 87 runs in a big win!

jacksprat 2019-01-07 16:44:40

Given these rigorous "fitness" criteria, the likes of Colin Cowdrey and Inzamam Ul-Haq could never have made the West Indies team, if they were eligible.

Cornwall has earned his call up; he has performed with both bat and ball whenever he is called on ! This is a charade because the young man has met almost every other matrix to be selected.

"Don't Watch His Size, He's Dangerous!"

If the putative issue is his lack of "fitness" then he should also be ineligible for the West Indie A team and the FC competition. If he is "fit" enough for the A team then he should also be "fit" enough for the West Indies senior teams.

I've heard some talk that he seems like wanting to quit. Seems as if he's troubled by not being called up. I heard that before start of the season so when I didn't see him for the first game was wondering.

The man deserves a call up. This whole physical test is B.S. some them guys who getting picked scoring lower than Jimbo

If this is true then he has only himself to blame and will get no sympathy from this corner. But 'word is" is just another phrase for rumour ….

Weight or no weight, he should not have to wait any longer for a call up. It is time for him now to be throwing his weight around on the field for the Windies. Anyway, let us wait and see. big grin big grin big grin

natty_forever 2019-01-08 14:45:15

In reply to positiveg… and probably not as fit. Because isn't fitness the whole team issue?

Fantom 2019-01-09 21:42:34

I once heard of a guy who became a successful lawyer. He got low or no GCE O Level subjects when he took the tests. However, the powers that be knew him to a be a performer and were wise enough to let him go ahead and take his A Levels.

The rest, they say, is history. Justice for Rakheem Cornwall.

Pacy 2019-01-09 22:14:34

i Do not understand how we call a player who bowls 50 overs regularly and score runs is considered unfit...

If his fielding is an issue he should be part of the longer version

Bro, he has earned a selection to the test team, Brian Charles selection has nothing to do, with Cornwall.
Something tells me, he will be selected and will be in the final X1.
