TTCB elections on January 16

TTCB elections on January 16
Bassarath, ‘Dinas’ coy about contesting the presidency

THE TT Cricket Board (TTCB) will finally be holding their election of officers on January 16, from 6 pm, at the TTCB office, located at the National Cricket Centre, Balmain, Couva. The decision was takes on Saturday at a special meeting held by the TTCB.

The election was originally scheduled for October 2016, but a six-member National League group comprising Dinanath Ramnarine, Daren Ganga, Samuel Badree, Clint Pamphille, Anil Kamal and the late Camal Basdeo was granted an injunction which stopped the process from taking place. The group challenged the TTCB constitution which they said favoured the incumbent executive as it allowed it 12 outgoing votes for elections.

However, on December 17, 2018, the claim by the six-member group was dismissed by Justice Jacqueline Wilson who refused to intervene as umpire in the local body's grievances.

TTCB president Azim Bassarath confirmed yesterday that there will be no AGM (Annual General Meeting) on the day, but simply the election of officers for the Board’s executive committee.

“That’s the only item on the agenda,” said the TTCB boss.

Any comments/analysis from our man in the know, in the inside?

POINT 2019-01-07 17:16:23

As far as I am aware it is asinine that Outgoing Members can retain Votes in Fresh Elections . It is this B.S
that exemplifies why Cricket in the
Region is continually spiraling Downwards .

IN ESSENCE IF THE ADMINISTRATION

REFUSES TO ADHERE TO DEMOCRATIC

PRINCIPLES , IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT

CRICKET IN THE REGION WILL ALSO BE

IN A MESS .

WHAT IS TRULY ASTOUNDING IS THE FACT

THAT THOSE IN ICC , THE APEX OF

INTERNATIONAL CRICKET IS LOATHE TO

ADDRESS THE CORRUPTION OF THE WORST

INTERNATIONAL CRICKET BOARD IN THE

COMMONWEALTH , AKA THE WICBC .

MY TAKE IS THAT THE ICC HARBORS &

FOSTERS CORRUPTION AMONG ITS MEMBERS

PERHAPS THE ICC ALSO IS IN NEED OF

CHANGING ITS CURRENT STRUCTURE .

INDELIBLY ETCHED IN MY MIND IS THE

FACT THAT THE ICC ALLOWED 4 OF ITS

MEMBERS TO TAKE THE LION'S SHARE OF

THE ICC PROFITS . I CITE THIS TO

SUGGEST THAT THE ICC ITSELF IS A HOT

BED OF INTRIGUE & POSSIBLE

CORRUPTION .

IT IS THEREFORE NO WONDER WHY THE

ICC HAS ALLOWED THE WICBC , THE

WORST INTERNATIONAL CRICKET BOARD IN

THE COMMONWEALTH TO BE A ROGUE

CRICKET BOARD .

That shows your lack of knowledge, of voting.
All members of TTCB can vote, it has nothing to do, with retaining votes.
It is like Trump being reelected by the voters.

I probably stated it incorrectly .
In the original Post by the author of this Post ,My understanding is that
Members who were appointed by the previous Administration , still retained their Seats , regardless of
whether those who appointed them lost the Elections .

Please read the Link that was provided by the Author Sgt.d.jones in this Post , and note the second Paragraph . It is this that I was addressing in what I have stated

A new election and a new board will be voted in, even if the previous board wins the election.
Thats how these things work.

POINT 2019-01-07 21:52:42

In reply to openning

Iam fully cognizant of that fact .The
author of this Post has restated what he said in a previous Post regarding this matter .

My take is that persons approved and
appointed by the outgoing Board had
voting Rights despite the fact that
those who appointed them were voted
out of Office .

This is precisely why I firmly believe that:

THE WICBC & ALL CRICKET BOARDS IN

THE REGION MUST BE COMPLETELY

RESTRUCTURED AND THOSE CURRENTLY ON

THESE BOARDS MUST DEMIT THEIR

OFFICES ; FOR THE GOOD OF WEST

INDIES CRICKET .

Hell Players get changed , what the
Hell is so sacrocant of those in the
governance of West Indies Cricket that THEY must have Lifetime Appointments on the WICBC & the Regional Cricket Boards ?????

The freaking fact is that it definitely cannot be said that they
have covered themselves in Glory regarding their Individual & Collective Stewardship of West Indies Cricket . This is precisely
why in my opinion they must all be
removed .

You are correct.

Bassarath will start with 12 votes
His opponent .....zero

Thanks for the clarification . When you stated this , in a Post before this current Post , I came to that
conclusion , then , and I currently have not deviated from that conclusion.

This is the first time that I heard that Those currently in Office , while demitting Office , can have those who they appointed can still remain in Office .

That is Pure Unadulterated B.S . and
frankly that is putting it extremely mildly . This is precisely why I am
in favour of :

ALL CRICKET BOARDS IN THE REGION &

THE WICBC MUST UNDERGO VERY VERY

SERIOUS STRUCTURAL CHANGES . I DO

NOT EVER INTEND , NOR WILL I BE

DISSUADED FROM THIS POSITION .

THE FREAKING FACT IS THAT IN WEST

INDIES CRICKET THERE ARE TO MANY

MIMIC MEN WHO RELISH APING THOSE WHO

FOUNDED THE WICBC 90 YEARS AGO , AND

WERE OF A DIFFERENT PIGMENTATION

THAN ALL THOSE CURRENTLY IN THE

GOVERNANCE OF WEST INDIES CRICKET .

LIKE THOSE WHO FOUNDED THE WICBC ,

FOR YEARS THOSE IN THE GOVERNANCE OF

WEST INDIES CRICKET HAVE PEDALED THE

IDEA THAT THEY ARE VASTLY SUPERIOR

IN EVERY RESPECT TO OUR PLAYERS .

WORSE YET THE FAUX SPORTS

JOURNALISTS IN THE REGION BELIEVE

THIS FREAKING B.S.

THIS IN MY OPINION IS AT THE HEART

OF ALL THE PROBLEMS PERTAINING TO

WEST INDIES CRICKET .

Now Bassarath will have 12 votes when such is completed

out of 49.

Bassarath, seems to be a popular guy, within the TTCB membership group.
You made us to believe that Dinanath Ramnarine and Daren Ganga had more support within the membership
Anyhow 37 more votes, still out there.

POINT 2019-01-08 13:44:01

Something is very fishy here . My take
is that Persons appointed by the Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Board , term of Office must automatically Expire
If & when the Trinidad & Tobago current Board loses the Elections .

My perspective is that Openning
wittingly or unwittingly is mudding
the water regarding the Elections .
sgt D.Jones please provide some clarity regarding this matter .

sgtdjones 2019-01-08 14:12:46

The last election this was the result

Bassarath got 16

Dinas got 17

Bassarath 16 plus 12 from outgoing administration =28

Dinas withdrew his nomination.

Bassarath wins.

The above took the T&TCB to court about the Constitution.
The judge said she didn't want to get involved and threw the brief out after 2 years in Court.

Now Bassarath will get his Administration nominated ...
he will start with 12 votes out of 49. A head start.

You made us to believe that Dinanath Ramnarine and Daren Ganga had more support within the membership

The various reps want to change but Bassarath has the
12 votes in his back pocket. All he needs for a majority is 13 reps plus his back pocket 12 ...makes 25.

Dinas with 24 cant win.

pariaman 2019-01-08 14:58:52

In reply to sgtdjones

That is madness.

Imagine Dinas could win 24/13 of the delegates from National League and other bodies yet still loose because the incumbents have 12 votes.

What a crazy system.

No wonder TT cricket going to the dogs.

I like many people just do not care anymore!

I am in total agreement with what You
have stated here . What I find very troubling is that apparently Basarath
will always have 12 Votes in his back
pocket .

That sure as Hell aint adherence to Democratic Procedures . Now I fully understand why West Indies Cricket
is in a Mess .

So is the General Public to believe
that these 12 Votes have been bought Forever by Basarath . If this is the
modus operandi of Cricket Boards in the Region , there will never ever be Good Governance in West Indies Cricket .

Two years later for the election to be held. Wow!

The same thing is being done at CWI.

Cameron can buy 8 votes and stay in power for life.

CWI will be getting 120 million US from the ICC yearly.

That's enough to get 8 votes plus.

Last Monday at the High Court, Justice Jacqueline Wilson dismissed a claim by the six-member National League group and ordered them to pay the legal fees of the TTCB which is in excess of half-a-million dollars which the organisation incurred due to the course of action taken by the six members of the National League Committee (NLC).

Dinas Ramnarine and Daren Ganga lost their case in court

Narper 2019-01-09 15:15:36

An executive team of the TTCB is comprised of six officers – the president, first vice president, second vice president, third vice president, general secretary and treasurer - as well as six nominated members after each Annual General Meeting.

Therefore, at the time of each AGM, those 12 persons are members of the board.

As such, the TTCB argued that there were no grounds to justify the Court’s intervention in the elections which were being conducted in accordance with the TTCB constitution.

The Court, in agreement, ruled that the case put forward by the claimants has ‘little support in fact or law’.

The central argument of the claimants’ case is that a block of 12 votes out of a majority of 49 is assured to the TTCB’s outgoing officers and that constitutes an unfair advantage that yields an unjust result.

However, according to the High Court December 17, 2018 ruling: “A block of 12 votes out of a maximum of 49 does not, by any standard, give rise to a majority.

If the TTCB’s full membership were to participate in an election, the incumbent officers would require a minimum of 25 votes to prevail – far in excess of the stipulated 12.”

“We were very happy with the outcome. From the very beginning we knew that no judge would have interfered with the constitution of any national body, because what happened is that the board members will make that decision, they will want will want to govern their association or board in the way they see it fit, and they will not like any institution from outside the board to interfere with their business,” Bazzarath told SportsMax.TV on Tuesday.

“We were confident of victory,” the TTCB president continued. “And in the end, we know people on the board and the national population is very happy with the ruling.”

Thanks bro, this is more about the TTCB constitution, than any member stealing votes.
Ganga and Ram, may have not read the constitution, and expected one of their friends to change it, in the courts.

Its simple Bassarat starts with 12 votes

His opponent starts at zero.

Bassarath needs 13 to stay in Power.

Opponent needs 25.

Isn't it a great constitution.

Bassarath defends Jan’s hiring
PRESIDENT of the TT Cricket Board (TTCB) Azim Bassarath has told CNC3 there was no improprierty in the appointment of Imran Jan as assistant coach of the TT Red Force.

Bassarath said Jan’s appointment, in October 2017, was a collective decision by the entire executive of the board, and owing to his extensive experience.

According to a CNC3 report last night, a PriceWaterHouseCoopers audit revealed former Sport Company director Jan attempted to approve funding for the TTCB beyond his limit. Jan was appointed assistant coach for the Red Force in October 2017. The audit report said Jan leaked confidential SporTT documents to Bassarath which revealed the amount of money the TTCB would receive from SporTT.

Jan was fired from SporTT in November 2017 shortly after the completion of a forensic audit.
