Shiv at times was a slow batsman. But he always knew how to rotate the strike and keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Tage doesn't seem to know the art of using his wrists to manipulate the ball into gaps for ones and twos. He's putting a lot of pressure on the other guys to score.

I have not given up on him. He has been in and out of the team which could explain his determination to just stay there and make runs..no matter how fast they come
Now that he is making runs I hope his confidence builds as he cements his place. He can then work on his SR.
In reply to Narper
I remember Lara in an interview during his playing days talking about how he approached his innings from the mental side of things.
He said "I only see the gaps, not the fielders".
That's the mentality Tage needs to have.

In reply to Narper
Leave young Chanderpaul alone,he is building a strong defense while batting for long periods,KB did the same and he is now a wall for us,we need batsmen who can hang on for long periods. When the time is right he would be playing shots,I am sure he can, just keep making runs and become the complete batsman.
Match start yet? or Tage still marking his guard and fixing his box a la Chanderpaul style.
.....imagine you about to bowl, eager, ready, fresh; and the batsman takes almost a minute to take his guard. Meanwhile u getting mad as hell...........
Different folks, different strokes, or lack thereof!!!
Why are these guys getting upset at Tage? Tell the selectors to drop him. Right now there is nothing surprising regarding his batting.

Congrats Tage on ur ton. Keep up the fight young man, ur average is good and hopefully wondies selectors are taking notice

But seriously, no one watches our cricket at the ground. A sprinkle of spectators usually there with the perfunctory school kids.
That should be detention for all the wutliss kids and therapy for prisoners. Force them to watch Tage and Kraig bat. Watch the recidivism rates go down
Tage is the only batsman in the world today that makes me want to not watch cricket. I can bear to watch even Pujara or Paint bat, but not Tage.
I agree that his innings here was a significant contribution to the good position the Jaguars are currently in, and also to the recent victory in Bdos, but he must be the least attractive batsman in the world today.
In reply to Dukes
I remember Shiv saying "if you don't practice batting for long a duration, don't expect to bat for long duration" when asked about his batting machine.
I am sure his mentors will also stress rotation of the strike as second priority.
A- defence
B- rotate
C- attack ~ early Tage was suppposed to be very attacking. Looks like he already had his ears boxed
In reply to Norm
I respectfully dispute this, sometimes i feel that way about the entire West Indies TEST team.

Watching the current WI team batting is usually disappointing, and even infuriating, but not boring.
Tage takes boredom to a level rarely seen in cricket, or any other sport. I would probably rather watch chess, from the back seat of a stadium.
In reply to Norm
Bro. You have to be in your zen-mode to enjoy this.
BTW., Tage says you nah ready yet. He says if you have a problem watching it, you should think about how he feels doing it
Skites Guyana like d new Hindia, its a runfest season
In reply to Runs

In reply to Runs
Hush. I am watching Tage bat. game back on.
Tagenarine says he knows enough to make good use of the vast experience of his father - the most capped player for West Indies in Test cricket - but does not let his record put unreasonable pressure on himself. "I just try and be myself. I can't be him, you know," Tagenarine said, according to the Jamaica Gleaner. "[But] most of the training, I use him to get some help. He gives me a few pointers."
Shivnarine, not unexpectedly, had plenty of advice for his son: "He's been around [the domestic circuit] for a while. He had a good season in the [first-class] Regional Four-Day tournament. It's the first time he had a full season, but that's just the beginning.
"He needs to keep going. He's young and he needs to learn as quickly as possible and take it a distance because, whenever you get an opportunity, you have to grab it sometimes."

Volcanoes orthodox left arm spinner Larry Edward was getting consistent bounce, which is probably why Jags declared now - before the pitch dried out more.

Volcanoes bowling not too bad, but they seemed to not have any particular strategy to dismiss any of the batsmen.

Still dont want Keemo in the mix for the English?
I was out most of the day.Good to see Keemo doing well. One must remember that the standard of this cricket is vastly different from test cricket. Keemo is still only 20 years old and this is his 3rd five wicket haul and his bowling average for Guyana is less than 17 which is amazing. He has the correct attitude and is not afraid of hard work and will continue to get better. He is a very thoughtful cricketer so I know he will be successful.Patience is key.He is not blessed with the pace of Oshane or AlJo but that can be compensated by clever variations, accuracy and persistence.

How fast is Keemo? Can anyone let me know? I have never seen him live
In reply to VoopsandOut
In his test debut he was clocking 140kph.
I think he's been carrying niggles and bowling within himself, so over this subcontinent tour he was about 130kph.

What Cricketluva4 said is correct. You can see Keemo live tomorrow by going to the you tube channel and typing in CricketWestIndies and then looking for Day 4 Guyana vs Windwards and you will see him.

Kirk Edwards batting really well - like the Kirk Edwards of a few years ago. Three 4's off a Pestano over, on both sides of the wicket.
Volcanoes 278-5 in 89 overs. KE 123*(179) Dennis Smith 16*(50)
Edwards takes on Shepherd now. Three 4's off his over too.
291-5 in 90 overs. Paul to bowl.
Edwards gone lbw off the 2nd ball of the over, after barely escaping a lbw appeal off the first ball!!!!! An inswinger, after the many outswingers from Paul earlier.

Congrats to the grounds men at Providence for having the square looking like a proper international cricket ground. It also played very well over the 4 days too.
