"Today, Nicolás Maduro's regime loses any remaining appearance of legitimacy," she said in a written statement. "Having seized power through fraudulent and anti-democratic elections held on May 20, 2018, the Maduro regime is now fully entrenched as a dictatorship. The suffering of Venezuelans will only worsen should he continue to illegitimately cling to power.
"Together with other like-minded countries in the Lima Group, Canada rejects the legitimacy of the new presidential term of Nicolás Maduro. We call on him to immediately cede power to the democratically-elected National Assembly until new elections are held, which must include the participation of all political actors and follow the release of all political prisoners in Venezuela."

Well the problem is the alternative to Maduro, the spaniard moneyed-elite prior to Hugo who made sure to keep the colonial spanish style class system and all it elements of discrimination ensuring poverty for the masses.
The official also praised the government of Jamaica for its decision this week to nationalize the 49 per cent stake that Venezuela's state oil company holds in the island's Petrojam. The government of Jamaica, which is not part of the Lima Group, accused the Maduro government of not living up to its commitments to help modernize Jamaica's oil industry.

In spite of all of this T&T PM Growley wants to do business with Maduro
While most of the world refuses to acknowledge the legitimacy of Venezuelas Nicolas Maduro-led regime, Foreign and Caricom Affairs Minister Dennis Moses attended the Venezuelan Presidents second inauguration on Thursday as an official representative of the TT government.

Moses was among international delegates from countries like Russia, China, Cuba, Syria, Iraq and Turkey, as well as Caribbean nations, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Antigua and Barbuda.
Conspicuously absent were the US, the UK, the European Union and several of Venezuelas South American neighbours.
The minister had apparently left early on Thursday to attend the inauguration. The public, however, was not informed. Instead, journalists and activists watching the broadcast on Venezuelas state television, Telesur, happened to notice Moses among the audience. Maduro, in his inaugural speech, even mentioned TT among others in his welcome remarks.

I applaud Rowley for his Venezuelan policy, they are our closest neighbor and by keeping good relations, he positions Trinidad to be a mediator for our sister CARICOM country if needed.
The countries that have it in for Venezuela- go check their record.
CARICOM maintains relationships with worse countries and regimes. For example the Trump administration, the former Canadian right wing PM etc etc.

I rest my case- all colonial masters and the friends of Venezuela's elite.
