The Test team need a batsman Like Tage. The cowlashers can bat at the other end

Don't we already have Kreigg?

Tage will have to do a lot better than that to displace the incumbent.

I would shoot myself in the middle of the pitch if I batted like Tagenarine. Btw, that is not how his father batted at any level. Shiv was generally defensive because the West Indies stunk and Shiv spent his career bailing them out.

When Shiv had to accelerate, he did it seamlessly. In ODI'S, he was a fantastic opener.

You guys are pointing out that the West Indies are filled with cowlashers, and need someone like Tage to bat for hours and hours. What many of you fail to realize is that Tagenarine is struggling to score runs, pierce gaps, hit boundaries and rotate the strike. All this against bowling attacks that wouldn't be considered world class.

You honestly think this shite would work against any of the Test playing nations?

Lmao, a century off 484 balls is not "slow" it is torture - and this too against poor regional teams?? That is someone who does not back his batting well enough. You actually think all that blocking will work in REAL, international cricket?!

If you are great at your job but take weeks and weeks to deliver what should be expected in days, that counts against your performance and impacts efficiency. It is a 4-day match, not a one year sabbatical.

If Tage ups his rate to Paint levels he will triple his production and play for the West Indies smile

Let’s say I concede this point of Tage not piercing the field.

Do you think that the 11 fielders will multiply to stop his non-scoring shots?

How much do you think he will not score?

I like the question! 11 players are already a waste of resources on this guy. When you are bowled almost 500 balls to make a century, that indicates that you are struggling to play freely or back yourself.

He is there to do a job and there is a deadline, rules and expectations (like with anything) within which he is meant to carry out that performance effectively. Taking almost 500 balls to score a century is like taking 3 years to build a house that would normally be built within 8 months. It all comes down to skill and more importantly, efficiency. Within those large gaps of non-scoring there is also the risk that he will get out after not scoring / wasting overs, so there has to be a far better balance between intelligent shot selection and keeping your wicket.

Shiv was slow by choice.

Check Shiv's stats opening the batting in ODIs

I didn't even want to mention Shiv's 69 ball test ton against OZ after coming into bat with WI at 47-4 and then lara gone at 53-5...

Tage is too slow WHEN there is someone faster to jump the queue ahead of him.....in-form Hety, Hope, Powell, Bravo etc.
Unfornately Wet Undies don't occupy the crease long enough, at least not so they can tire bowlers out.

The playing Xi cant all have the same skillset. There are games/grounds and in match situations for almost every scenario.
Yes, like today Guyana needed Hetty to bat like Hetty can, but on other times like in the first innings TAGE was needed.
Once in a while we get a great cricketer who do it all ~Lara etc but Tage is Tage, just like Shiv was Shiv!

Tage will score faster, only if he can put on some weight. Tiga should impress upon his boy to get a personal weight trainer, do some weight training & put on muscular poundage. The kid's whole disposition will change. Tage should be 165+lbs! Btw, Does Guyana has those kind of specialists? confused

There is very little doubt that Tage is valuable to the Jaguars. Those big innings are built on partnerships with Tage. He is just a very boring batsman!

Note that if the Volcanoes had a batsman like Tage they might have avoided defeat against the Jaguars.
