TAGENARINE CHANDERPAUL 101 (427) SR 23.65
4's 7 6's 0
nah throw yuh wicket away.stay deh stay deh
In reply to shivnotout
Say, since uncle Shiv retire, you gin change the handle to Tagenotout???
Took only 423 balls.
Leonard Baichan batted like that for WI in fc matches in Australia in 1975 and Jyantilal for India against WI about the same time. Neither played many Tests, and both played because the rest of the batting was faring badly.
I cannot remember any other player so unable to beat the field as this, for so long. Tage is fortunate that his competition is Trevon Griffith, who must rank as one of the poorest openers in regional fc cricket, ever.
In reply to Norm
Tage needs to be hypnotized when he goes to bat.
On a serious note, he needs to have his placement sorted out
In reply to shivnotout
Tage made 101* against Barbados exactly one year ago
A month ago he made 84*
In reply to Narper
If he ups the scoring rate, his FC average would be much higher, based on his occupation at the crease.
Tagenarine says he knows enough to make good use of the vast experience of his father - the most capped player for West Indies in Test cricket - but does not let his record put unreasonable pressure on himself. "I just try and be myself. I can't be him, you know," Tagenarine said, according to the Jamaica Gleaner. "[But] most of the training, I use him to get some help. He gives me a few pointers."
Shivnarine, not unexpectedly, had plenty of advice for his son: "He's been around [the domestic circuit] for a while. He had a good season in the [first-class] Regional Four-Day tournament. It's the first time he had a full season, but that's just the beginning.
"He needs to keep going. He's young and he needs to learn as quickly as possible and take it a distance because, whenever you get an opportunity, you have to grab it sometimes."

Shiv did his thing. He should leave the young man to do his thing now. No sense shackling him. There is only one Shiv. No need to remake him
In reply to shivnotout
more people complaining about this kid making a 100 than Trinidad and Jamaica poor batting this season
In reply to cricketmygame
Now you see what is wrong with the regions cricket. People are not interested in celebrating success, but ignoring failures. And lord help us. We have colossal failures from management all the way down
Some folks are satisfied with an attractive 20.
In reply to cricketmygameYoung Chanders in the making of a West Indian opening bat,who vex mek dem carry dem rass.Well done Tage Chanderpaul, people are talking a lot of rubbish, how does making a 100 cause a problem to the team, come on allyuh smartass let's hear.
In reply to granite
Budday, when Tage makes runs he complicates things for the selectors. They would rather have a 20-something lash man
In reply to runout
The Test team need a batsman Like Tage. The cowlashers can bat at the other end
In reply to Nyabinghi
Tell that to the restless masses.
When selectors look at stats they will see 100 not a swasbuckling 27
UYANA JAGUARS 428/7 (139.0 Ov)
TAGENARINE CHANDERPAUL 112 (455)
CLINTON PESTANO 9 (17)
In reply to Runs
The above is what Shiv told his son
He grabbing it
In reply to Narper
Shiv has 45 like tendencies
GUYANA JAGUARS 450/9 (146.0 Ov)
GUDAKESH MOTIE 4 (6)
TAGENARINE CHANDERPAUL 116 (473)
Tage reached his 100 just before lunch today. It is over an hour now after lunch and his score is 116.
Meanwhile, it is amusing to see the Volcanoes crowd Motie as if he's a rabbit of a batsman.
Jags declare now for 452-9 off 148 overs.
In reply to Narper… can we have Tage, since you all have an issue with him? Yaad wud be 5 without loss right now.
413 dots out of 484 balls
In reply to Maispwi
they were unplayable.
In reply to Nyabinghi
Don't we already have Kreigg?
Tage will have to do a lot better than that to displace the incumbent.
I would shoot myself in the middle of the pitch if I batted like Tagenarine. Btw, that is not how his father batted at any level. Shiv was generally defensive because the West Indies stunk and Shiv spent his career bailing them out.
When Shiv had to accelerate, he did it seamlessly. In ODI'S, he was a fantastic opener.
You guys are pointing out that the West Indies are filled with cowlashers, and need someone like Tage to bat for hours and hours. What many of you fail to realize is that Tagenarine is struggling to score runs, pierce gaps, hit boundaries and rotate the strike. All this against bowling attacks that wouldn't be considered world class.
You honestly think this shite would work against any of the Test playing nations?
In reply to natty_forever
Him make more runs than the entire Jamaica team.
He and braithwaite two peas in a pod...

Brett Maes: "While a counter-attacking quick-fire fifty is entertaining, it rarely wins matches. I would want a slow century over a quick half- any day. "
In reply to mikesiva
yeh lil shiv shepherd de tail, just like he daddy
In reply to mikesiva
Lmao, a century off 484 balls is not "slow" it is torture - and this too against poor regional teams?? That is someone who does not back his batting well enough. You actually think all that blocking will work in REAL, international cricket?!
If you are great at your job but take weeks and weeks to deliver what should be expected in days, that counts against your performance and impacts efficiency. It is a 4-day match, not a one year sabbatical.
In reply to Devin
You honestly think this shite would work against any of the Test playing nations?
Well said! Common sense escapes most of this MB so often, its scary!
If Tage ups his rate to Paint levels he will triple his production and play for the West Indies
In reply to Judgement
Lets say I concede this point of Tage not piercing the field.
Do you think that the 11 fielders will multiply to stop his non-scoring shots?
How much do you think he will not score?
In reply to runout
I like the question! 11 players are already a waste of resources on this guy. When you are bowled almost 500 balls to make a century, that indicates that you are struggling to play freely or back yourself.
He is there to do a job and there is a deadline, rules and expectations (like with anything) within which he is meant to carry out that performance effectively. Taking almost 500 balls to score a century is like taking 3 years to build a house that would normally be built within 8 months. It all comes down to skill and more importantly, efficiency. Within those large gaps of non-scoring there is also the risk that he will get out after not scoring / wasting overs, so there has to be a far better balance between intelligent shot selection and keeping your wicket.
In reply to runout
wait this lil bhai ah concentrate so much.none windwards bowlers can get ah lil edge from he bat?
face 549 balls not outttt
Time is not the issue here. They won the match easily within allotted timeframe
So Tage have Shiv and Krishna Arjune teaching him
He bound to be solid but slow
In reply to cricketmygame
Shiv was slow by choice.
Check Shiv's stats opening the batting in ODIs
I didn't even want to mention Shiv's 69 ball test ton against OZ after coming into bat with WI at 47-4 and then lara gone at 53-5...
In reply to Narper
One 69 ball ton is all the evidence?
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Was this in your blind spot when you read my post?
In reply to Narper
You should post them
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
You should look for them yourself...are you blind? I though it was your blind spot which was your problem
I have made a statement...prove me wrong
Tage is too slow WHEN there is someone faster to jump the queue ahead of him.....in-form Hety, Hope, Powell, Bravo etc.
Unfornately Wet Undies don't occupy the crease long enough, at least not so they can tire bowlers out.
The playing Xi cant all have the same skillset. There are games/grounds and in match situations for almost every scenario.
Yes, like today Guyana needed Hetty to bat like Hetty can, but on other times like in the first innings TAGE was needed.
Once in a while we get a great cricketer who do it all ~Lara etc but Tage is Tage, just like Shiv was Shiv!
Tage will score faster, only if he can put on some weight. Tiga should impress upon his boy to get a personal weight trainer, do some weight training & put on muscular poundage. The kid's whole disposition will change. Tage should be 165+lbs! Btw, Does Guyana has those kind of specialists?
There is very little doubt that Tage is valuable to the Jaguars. Those big innings are built on partnerships with Tage. He is just a very boring batsman!
Note that if the Volcanoes had a batsman like Tage they might have avoided defeat against the Jaguars.
You guys are missing the forest for the trees.

Who won the match??

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Shiv has a better one day strike rate than Haynes and many others from that great 80s side
In reply to BeatDball
yep.Ramnaresh Sarwan
In reply to Ewart
Jaguars won by 8 wickets. Needed to make 117 which they cleared in 18.3 overs - 121/2
Skipper Johnson cleared the final ball with a huge SIX!
In reply to netgrouchy
who Jaguars playing next?
AH HOPE DE TEAM HAVE GOOD BOWLERS,CAUSE YOU KNOW WAH GONNA HAPPEN
In reply to netgrouchy
Thanks... as I expected (and knew)!
The point I was making is that the team with the batsman who spent a lot of time at the wicket (and made runs!) is the team likeliest to win.

14 of Shiv's 30 Test tons came at a strike rate of greater than 48. Quite a few of those centuries were actually scored at strike rates above 60.
Shiv had a career strike rate of 43+. Comparatively speaking, Marlon Samuels and Ramnaresh Sarwan, who were considered stroke-filled and attacking batsmen, had career strike rates of 47+ and 46+, respectively. Two batsmen who often failed to bat according to the situation, and who were often dismissed playing loosely.
In ODI'S, Shiv's two highest scores were 150 and 149. Both scored at strike rates comfortably over 100. We know he hit Chaminda Vaas for a 4 and 6 off the last two deliveries in an ODI to win the match.
If i recall correctly, he once returned from injury to score 14 odd in the last over vs New Zealand to win the match.
He hit Steve Harmison for 26 runs in an over(5 4's and a 6). In that same series in another match, he took 50 odd deliveries to score his first 10 runs, and then exploded to score his next 70+ runs from about 40 deliveries.
Even in 20/20 cricket, he's managed to score 87 twice. Hell, he's played 20/20 cricket representing the West Indies, Lancashire, an IPL team, and a team in Bangladesh.
Kallis had a strike rate in Tests of just under 46. He never scored 140 or more in an ODI.
Rahul Dravid(42.5) had a lower strike rate than Shiv. And he batted alongside Sehwag, Tendy, Laxman, and Ganguly.
