WI Squad for England Tour

Runs 2019-01-14 13:28:44

St Johns, Antigua. The Selection Panel of Cricket West Indies has named a 13-member squad to play England in three (3) Test Matches .

The selection sees the return of Leon Johnson and Vishaul Singh to the squad, along with Veerasammy Permaul. Recent ODI debutant Chandrapaul Hemraj along with legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul son Tagenarine Chanderpaul and John Campbell found themselves in the test squad for the first time due to their consistent performance in the 4 day tournament.

Due to the inability of regular Captain Jason Holder to win matches, CWI’s Board of Directors has approved Leon Johnson as interim test Captain.

Chairman of Selectors Courtney Browne said, “with Guyana dominating fourday cricket in the Caribbean, we have decided to replace the Bajan failures with Guyanese superstars". We believe that Leon Johnson experience as a winning captain will add value to the team , which in turn will lead to Windies resurgence as a dominant force in world cricket. The selection panel therefore takes this opportunity to wish the team much success against England.”

The full squad reads.
1. Chanderpaul Hemraj
2. John D. Campbell
3. Leon Johnson (captain)
4. Vishaul Singh
5. Shimron Hetmyer
6. Jason Holder
7. Shane Dowrich
8. Veerasammy Permaul
9. Kemar Roach
10. Shannon Gabriel
11. Keemo Paul
12. Roston Chase

India is expected to return to Guyana in 2019 for the first time since 2002 and make a maiden appearance at the National Stadium, Providence, for a two One-Day Internationals. This revelation was made by Cricket West Indies Director, Anand Sanasie, in an exclusive interview with News Room Sport earlier today.

Hola...this is a real eye pass how can they play Tagenarine in front of Len Baichan, and surely Jason Holder should make way for Joe Soloman...Gibbs crying foul as he thinks he should be selected ahead of Permaul
