Away With Windies Fast Bowlers Not Clocking 150 km/h And Up

XDFIX 2019-01-16 14:35:05

1 Shoaib Akhtar (Pakistan) 161.3 km/h
2 Brett Lee (Australia) 161.1 km/h
3 Shaun Tait (Australia) 161.1 km/h
4 Jeffrey Thompson (Australia) 160.6 km/h
5 Andy Roberts (West Indies) 159.5 km/h
6 Fidel Edwards (West Indies) 157.7 km/h
7 Mitchell Johnson (Australia) 156.8 km/h
8 Muhammad Sami (Pakistan) 156.4 km/h
9 Shane Bond (New Zealand) 156.4 km/h
10 Dale Steyn (South Africa) 156.2 km/h

These 135 - 140 km/h bowlers being touted in Windies setup will not instill fear or cut it at international cricket level

A high compression ratio is what gives an engine a higher horsepower rating for a given engine weight thus higher performance - Windies needs the fasties for that push and higher and better performance

Let's light some fire under Gabie, Al Jo, Octane, and Leveridge! - those are the gems Windies should be nurturing

What nonsense are you saying? the leading wicket takers in test cricket are spinners and medium pacers, Not out and out fast bowlers. Look at England attack Broad and Anderson are not fast bowlers they are in the 130-140 km/h. West Indies would pay any amount money to get two bowlers like them.

I'd rather get the right combined attack than choose an attack based on the pace they're bowling.

A balance attack is better
- one fast bowler, 150+ "the enforcer"
- 2nd fast bowler, 145+ "the wingman"
- 3rd seamer, 135+ "the donkey"
- Spinner, the container in the first inning and a wicket taker in the second

Not too many good batsmen now - Give me that old religion of fasties

I repeat let's light some fire under Gabie, Al Jo, Octane, and Leveridge! - those are the gems Windies should be nurturing

Can you imagine Gabie, Al Jo, Octane, and Leveridge being guided and coached properly?

Havok!

How'd Tino Best fare? lol

Pace isn't everything — give me guys that move the ball around at 135+ any day of the week over pure pace.

Tino was fast and foolish. I'm not going to comment one way or the other on XDFIX's position. We know Gabriel has pace and little bit of movement.

Joseph we know not only has pace but he moves the ball both ways.

Thomas too has pace and he swings the ball both ways and has a good yorker.

I agree - I've come to seriously respect the bowler Gabriel has turned himself into through hard work and hope Oshane can follow a similar path (perhaps a little faster than Gabriel did).

Joseph, Holder and one or two others — all fast, promising cricketers, could be SO exciting if they can get their bodies right, get the right coaching and commit to a disciplined, professional lifestyle.

Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself over and over again!

wink

The point I am making if yuh all 130s km/h doing well imagine fasties at pace giving swing and bounce thus my take on nurturing and good coaching- not fast and foolish

I believe Octane can hit the 160s with proper training and discipline

How many of those bowlers are playing in today's cricket? How many of them played together on the same team?

Going by your opening statement, I "think" only Oshane Thomas would play so we would have 10 batsmen plus Thomas big grin

Pace does excite but not all quick men succeed. Among the current quicks you have Rabada, Bumrah, Cummins have a really good impact and they are in 140 to 145 K range usually. We also have Philander, Bhuvaneshwar, hazzlewood, Anderson all succeed too with a pace of 135 - 140 K.

I do not think, with the pitches we have now, we will have 125 to 135 K pavement like a vas’s or mc Garth or pollock succeed.

135K + speed with good skills and mind is why we need. I seriously believe we should have someone coaching the top 15 quicks with the movement and pace round the year trying to make them better.

MRF pace foundation did wonders for Indian quicks. But we tend to expect them to learn by themselves
