Does more with the ball than any other fast bowler in the West Indies.Every over there are balls that are coming in and some that are going away. There are slower balls, yorkers, off-cutters, leg cutters and you could see the young man trying to think the batsman out. There is a reason why at least in Regional cricket why he is so successful i.e averaging less than 17 runs per wicket. He looks like he can get a wicket in every over he bowls.

KEEMO PAUL
In reply to Dukes
Kevin Stoute and Mayers disagree
In reply to Dukes
Jason Holder
In reply to Maispwi
One can always disagree.I tend to respect opinions which are backed up by evidence.
In reply to Dukes
Did you watch Stoute today? Dats where the evidence was. In fact dat has been the hallmark of these 2 for a long time now
Paul is a alrounder and that's how he should be perceived I don't like how they are using him as a fast bowler that kid have exceptional ability with the bat he needs to bat higher number 6.
Echoes of the great Beaton- Also of Guyana!
In reply to Maispwi
I did not watch Stoute today but I have seen him and he is a good bowler. Paul is a better bowler. He has more tools in the tool box.Better strike rate, better numbers in every aspect of measurement.Stoute is 33 years old while Paul is 20.
When people back up their opinions with hard numbers I pay attention. Otherwise talk is meaningless.
In reply to Spoilt101
Same thing was said about Jason Holder and then he started taking wickets like crazy and the talk stopped.
Heaping praise on fellow teammate Keemo Paul for his five-wicket haul, Brathwaite said: "Keemo is a very very talented cricketer, he is probably one of the most skilled cricketers across the world despite his young age."
In reply to Dukes
He does have all the tools but watching him he tries to take a wicket with every ball. At the highest level you have to build pressure and then force the error. You perfect your stock delivery and the subtle variations are your 1 and 2 in 10 delivery. If you show your full repertoire then good batsmen just sit and wait.
The lad is 20 hopefully he continues to get better...he just needs to continue to work hard and get the best support aroungd him and there is no reason why he shouldn't make it to the top.
In the long-term Paul & Holder could provide the option to move Dowrich to 6 & go with the two bowling all-rounders.
In reply to Dukes
Agreed. Has all the right attributes. Smart and mentally tough. Yes, a few others may do more with ball but he also delivers with a decent turn of pace. A star in the making. Hope we dont lose him to the T20 leagues.
Our best talent to emerge for quite a while. The worrying thing is the powers that be sees him as a ODI/T20 star.
He is in my mind test match material.
In reply to Dukes
but aren't Stoutes better aged?
In reply to Raggs I was hoping they were taking a leaf out of the Ozzies books, blooding young and upcoming in the shorter formats.
In reply to natty_forever
we shall see cuz if not given the assurance that he is in our test match future then we are looking at another bravo/russell/braithwaite character.
In reply to Raggs I am wondering if it matters, instinct is to chase the money.
In reply to natty_forever
i saw an article with his dad being interviewed i get the feeling its about west indies, bringing back the glory days in the test match arena. he has been groomed for that from pickney days. his old man is of old school thinking.
In reply to Dukes
How did age and strike rate etc. come into the equation? You started dis off as doing things with the ball and ah listed a few others who did so.
Why dis insistence that your view is the correct view or the only view. You starting to sound like Conde of the WI Board. One wud think that you had learnt a lesson after making dat silly statement dat St. Barts didn exist in de Caribbean cause you hadn heard of it.
In reply to mkcharles
Just as good batsmen are capable of adjusting, so are good bowlers!
To achieve what he has at the tender age of 20 is remarkable. He has proven that he has a good cricketing brain and he has earned the opportunity to represent WI at the highest level. WI cannot afford to stifle this youngmans development. He would no doubt falter on occasion, but its never smooth sailing to the top.
In reply to Maispwi a guessing he saying it would be better to invest in the younger one.
In reply to Maispwi
Wait! Who said that? When was that said? How did I miss that?
