He was to busy doing this

A video on social media of Machel Montano performing a Hindu religious chant at a Carnival fete is generating mixed reactions from the Hindu community.

Montano then started to chant the lyrics for a version of a Hindu devotional aarti, popularly known as “Jai Ganesh Jai Ganesh Deva”.

“Jai Ganesh, Jai Ganesh, Jai Ganesh…,” Montano sang in part, trying to get the audience to sing along. He teased them over not singing along, asking if they didn’t know other languages and also only knowing about songs for wining, before having the music switched to “Fast Wine”.

I don't think he meant harm.

Diversity needs to be celebrated in those societies that have these tensions.

Good Man! Montano, that is. smile

Diversity needs to be celebrated especially in those societies that have these tensions.

Cross cultural awareness is important but sadly lacking among many, especially some of the back room inhabitants type who actually grew up with many cultures around but chose or were coerced, or impregnated with the ideology that "there is no Culture but One, My Culture only" sadly not only in thoughts but in physical aggression towards other cultures. Prominent in the early 60s moving forward.
I call them the Burnhamites.
When I first came here and called out the Burnhamites, the guilty ones twisted it and counterattacked claiming I was a racist. So be it.
Ignarance nah gat cure.
I still think 75% of Guyana's problem would be resolved if people see the good in each other, and understand even a little bit of each other's culture.
From my experience it has been unilateral only.

Also, see the bad for what it is and not just blindly defend because it is their own kind, of their own kind, a disease that is very manifest and reeks of hypocrisy.

I was being facetious. I listen to a lot of music and I didn't see any represented on the prime time show.

I did google and saw Sting and Shaggy's collaboration won the reggae grammy

Why Machel not at Grammys?

Notice the thread headlines?

I posted what Machel was doing, I didn't offer a comment.
I didn't note anything about unity etc...

Now later the illiterate Trini making comments about copy and paste that I give credit to the authors.

He copies and pastes, Trini women pictures from magazines and the internet without the photographer's permission and or publication. Isn't such classified as plagiarism?

See how stupid he is, violating a rule of the forum.

You mean overall? That would be obviously false wouldn't it? Caribbean born people been winning Grammys for decades now, no? Hell, if you add all the Marley's together, the answer would be still no. C'mon dude.

And about 2 of Rihanna's 9 Grammy's are for her own (as in not 'features' on an Eminem or Jay Z song) work.

From Sparrow, way back when, they expressed an awareness and knowledge of the other culture, like beti, (sexy) marajin, etc.
Everybody feels involved and a togetherness permeates the environment although some stiffs complained about a sexy marajin (pandit's wife) razz
Not Me!
A nice dougla gyal sang some real catchy tunes also with an "IndoTrini." I might have to open up You tube after dinner to find her.
Hurry, hurry, come(? or run or both?) for curry and many others.
