shocking a team with this record is likely to win the championship

Batsmen mentally weak....mentally tired already...season too long for them.

SIX! Bramble hits it over long on and raises his arms in victory!
Jags have likely retained the championship, with the Leewards having a slight chance to still win it.
In reply to Norm
Bim will be very strong for the final match so lewards winning is highly unlikely.
In reply to Devvvvvvv
We will see!
Congrats to Guyana, another good season, hopefully they win the tournament next week, but could Tage go further in cricket batting in that style?
In reply to dayne
Tage's style has value. Guyana won when he stayed there for long periods.
Jags still have batting problems tho. Vishaul, Johnson, Hemraj and Rutherford have fallen away. New batsmen will be needed next season.
In reply to Norm
All the Guyanese commentators are proclaiming that the Jaguars have won their 5th straight title but I am at a loss to find the actual rules wrt bonus points. The system is quite opaque and I think the rules should be posted prominently on the CWI website.Should the Leewards win their last game there will be controversy because people do not know the rules.
I keep saying that the failure to pay attention to details and the lack of transparency is the bugbear of WI cricket.
In reply to Dukes
24 points is the maximum points a team can get from a game..if Guyana lead is more than 24 points even by a .1 when the point table is updated after this round they are champions..anylead less than 24 points then lewards are still in it.
In reply to Devvvvvvv
We should be able to do the updating ourselves. THAT IS THE POINT I AM MAKING.The rules are nowhere to be found.
Too many people are like sheep!!!!!!
In reply to Dukes
Yeah man they are there..
Wicb released an article a few years ago showing how the new point system works... bowling bonus points only go to a team when fast bowlers get wicket.. batting bonus points start from 200 being 2 points the lowest and I think from 400 beyond being the maximum which fetch 5points.
Check out the link in the previous post and it will tell u everything about the rules and regulations
In reply to Devvvvvvv
That is INCOMPLETE.How does one get a fraction of a point and I am sure I heard something about fast bowlers and spin bowlers affect the amount of points one gets.
In reply to Devvvvvvv
That is probably outdated since it is 2015.
In reply to Dukes
0.2 points earned for every wicket taken by a fast bowler
In reply to Dukes
The 0.2 fast bowling bonus points is the only update friend...
In reply to Devvvvvvv
Cornwall will not be allowed to bowl then?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
In reply to Dukes
This will give u a better idea about the point system dukes.
Professional Cricket League era
Edit
Since the 201415 season when Professional Cricket League started the teams have played each other twice in a round-robin with the team having the most points at the end of the League being awarded the Championship and the Headley/Weekes Trophy[15].
Points are now awarded similarly to the 2010/11-2014/15 era except that now the concept for points for first innings lead has been abandoned and replaced with bonus points for batting (1 point being awarded in intervals of 50 runs for total scores over 200 for the first 110 overs and up to a maximum of 5 points), bowling (1 point being awarded in intervals of 2 wickets for 3 wickets or more taken in a team's innings for the first 110 overs and up to a maximum of 3 points) and for pace bowling (0.2 points for each wicket taken by designated pace bowlers). Tied matches are now awarded 6 points instead of 8 points and the range of points awarded for drawn matches has been replaced by each team getting 3 points plus the bonus points. For abandoned matches, the points awarded to each team has been reduced from 3 to 1, except where a match is abandoned due to a dangerous pitch, in which case the visiting team are awarded 12 points (as would happen with an outright win).
Guyana came into this round with 25.2 points ahead i think...
LI just won ...according to the rules they earned
12 + 2 (batting) + 3 (bowling) + fast bowling points - 1.8 (1st innings) + 1.6 (2nd innings) = 20.4 points
Guyana just won
12 + 0 batting + 3 (bowling) + fast bowling points -1.8(1st innings) + 1.4 (2nd innings = 18.2 points
So LI has reduced the Guyana lead by 2.2 points...
therefore Guyana leads by 23.0 (25.2-2.2)
LI got 1 more to play...can they catch up?
YES
They can earn a maximum of 12 + 5 (batting) + 3 (bowling) + 4 fast bowling = 24 points
if they do they will clear the Guyana 23.0 and therefore be crowned winners
For LI to earn the 24 maximum they need to do the following
earn at least 23 points
They can earn a maximum of 12 + 5 (batting) + 3 (bowling) + 4 fast bowling = 24 points
1. Score 400 runs or over within the first 110 overs of their innings - 5 points
2. Take 9-10 Barbados wickets in each innings (3 points)
3. take at least 15 Bajan wickets with fast bowling - 15 *0.2 = 3 points
4. win the match (12 points)
In reply to Dukes
Lol yes but no bonus points for him taking a wicket.
Guyana play a cat and mouse game by gaining maximum bowling points each game..Shepard,pestano,reifer,barnwell, Joseph, Rutherford have all been used smartly to give Guyana the bonus points..permaul and motie didn't make a big impact this season.
In reply to doosra
Looks accurate according to the calculations
In reply to doosra
That is well nigh impossible
Cornwall has taken the most wickets for the Leewards so it is unlikely he will take less than 6 wickets in a Leewards win.In addition Barbados is strengthened with the inclusion of Kraigg and Chase so...............
I can see why the Guyanese guys were saying they won already.
In reply to Dukes
in this just concluded match I think Cornwall took 1 or 2 wickets..the fast bowlers took 16 or so
In reply to doosra
I just checked,Cornwall took only 2 wickets in this match and there was a run out. This leads to a farcical situation where you do not want Cornwall to take any wickets.
Have the geniuses at CWI thought about that unintended consequence?
In reply to Dukes
was he under-bowled?
it's an interesting observation you're making there
In reply to doosra
What happens if Barbados declares with 8 wickets down in the first innings.Does that mean that Leewards only get 2 bowling points?
In reply to Dukes
yes...
this is similar to what happens in English county where teams declare to avoid conceding points like that
In reply to doosra
Perhaps the plan was to get as many fast-bowling points as possible.
In reply to Dukes
POINT Sa . farce indeed!!!
In reply to Kay
Leewards are highly unlikely to catch Guyana.Lucky if they can get 4 batting points, forget 5 points and then maximum bowling points with Kraigg and Chase joining Carter and Brooks in a much stronger Bim batting line up than in previous matches.
