Small days playing with Awara or Couru seeds we called thaws...using 3 holes in the dirt:
- The game was called Gamm
- Come fulls meant come for your licks which was,
- using your thaw to strike his thaw away from the last hole, this was the sweetest part we called tickson...ticksin (could be)
In reply to Ninetenjack
probably used only in GT...

I thought Gamm is when you've won the game and then you get to take 'ticksin' until your opponent get Gamm, also.
We called it 'marbles' in Enmore.
How about the term, while playing that game, 'shockin intah, no punch?'
Btw, during a picnic last year at the park, I went back to my car and collected 2 golf balls, dug three holes in the ground and a few of us were playing.
It brought back so many memories of the old days...... doesn't take much to play it at anytime.
then you have some fellas with their 'hyan-steel' marbles.
From my memory, in primary school, I think the pecking order was:
hyan-steel
golf ball
kuru
awara
correct me if i'm wrong....
How about ENTER HOLE?

Lived near a cane field. My family were the neighborhood grocers. In front of our yard was a large dirt parapet. Every August that would be the neighborhood Gam championship spot. My dad would sponsor prizes (Tastee Snacks, Fanta, Ice cream). It's been years since I've seen anyone playing the game.
What about "Chink-About"? Was that only a GT name or game?

Yes, Chink-about we use to play for rubber bands. If you get close and you span with you fingers that was 1 rubber band, if you land on top and there was no space in between his and yours that was 2 rubber bands, and if you hit and could span that was 3......
