OK - give me all the numbers that are 3 units from 2
In reply to Casper
Damn I thought it was 2 shoes!!!
Details!
20..

In reply to black
yuh minus de man big toe ah wah?
In reply to bravos
Only one shoe.
15?
Hahahaha!!!
Keep trying folks.
One shoe=5
One man=5
4 ties=8. one is 2.
Y'all do de rest.
I see so many improperly written maths!
Plus shoes worn on feet considered as it is part of the person already?
So is it (5 +5 or 15 [shoes]) X 2?
5+5=10 TIMES 2 IS 20.
or 20 TIMES 2 IS 40.
Ans:[20 or 40
Or is it 5+ (5 or 15 x2)
5+10=15.
5+30=35.
Ans:15 or 35
Y'all decide which answer you want.
Can do some more detailed analysis with more permutations.

The guy is worth = 5
The flipper/wristband is worth = 2
In last line....He has on 2 shoes + a flipper/wristband Each shoe is worth 10
sooooo the last line is:
5 + ([5+2+2+10+10] x2) = 63
Ok, anybody who gets
A.20
B. 40
C. 15
D.35
will get credit if they show their work.
Where is smarty pants Dukes?
In reply to Casper
Ok, 1 tie 1 shoe
So it should be shoe is 5 tie is 2 and the dude is 5 = 12.
In reply to goofballs
Of course, they have to show their work to even get out of the "exam room"
That Black burning up lotta paper.
In reply to Casper
Good teacher. You have to be strict!
In reply to goofballs
I should erase my answer. Dem das cheat, even if I get it wrong.

No Gold Stars yet.
I think, I'll let y'all outta de room. Take home exam.
Bring back yuh finished work in de mawnin'

I missed the multiplication sign.
In reply to black
An "E" for Effort.
Maybe a "D" for Determination. That's an improvement.
Now, here are some qualities of a good student:
Problem solving, Analytic thinking, and Communication.
In this problem, the latter is quite important.
Show how you arrive at your answer and maybe others can see the strength or weakness in your approach.

3 pairs of shoes = 30
Each pair a symbolic unit of 10
Each individual shoe 5
Two persons and a pair shoes(5) =20
2x + 10 = 20
X = 5
Each man = 5
2pair tie + 2 pair tie + man(5) = 13
4x + 5 = 13
X= 2
Each single tie = 2
Singe shoe(5) + man(5) + tie(2) = 12
ZOOM ISSUE makes this not about math.
However, This morning when I looked at the man on zoom he is holding a tie in each hand.
But u have to zoom in close(shady trick, not math) ALSO most important it is multiply not ADDITION as per my original error.
THEREFORE:
5 + 9 x 2 = 23
The reason I said 12 first was I missed the very small ties in his hands on zoom and did not notice the multiply at the end.
If the small ties in his hands don't matter then the answer is 5 + 5 x 2 = 15
Summary: if trickery of zoom, it is 23, no zoom 15
In reply to Casper
I say positively it's 15. What's in the hand can be anything and is therefore considered not definitive. But I am not surprised at all about bravos' two answers. Facking dumb skunt.
23, if we assume what's in the hands are ties - (not definitive).
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!
In reply to pelon
Yes, it's some sort of trickery.
15
BTW, I solved it before looking at other people answers!
In reply to Casper
kind a look like 62
Nice to see some students turned their takehome exams in early.
Some are really struggling, some are on track, and some making careless mistakes.
If I may (hint. hint, hint), at least two students are almost there.
Keep trying guys. Be observant
so you are stating it is not 23
(ignore the trick of zoom) and you are saying it is not 15
did you read my logic about the units and the zoom to reveal the man holding two ties??
In reply to pelon
Oh fack Pelon de figure is wearing a pair of shoes?
In reply to Courtesy
yes.... rass...
even dat level of trickery is not fair man
UPDATE TRICKERY/Fackery:
5+(5+10+4)x2 = 43
In reply to pelon
Not fair at all.
I state 43 (the first to call it as 43, could still be wrong though)
He "onfair" my eyes with that unfair zoom shit. Not a math problem, an ophthalmology problem.
lol
In reply to Courtesy
cunt hole I said I saw a pair of shoes by mistake you loser...i left it because I am honest and dont wanna be accused of changing my answer ..
Black made a similar mistake you failed professional and obsolete statistician ..
In reply to bravos
New answer below:
In reply to Casper
Damn I thought it was 2 shoes!!!
Details!
20..
Even where something one can check you haffi tell a lie.
In reply to Courtesy
fuck you cunt that answer is my final one and I mentioned the two shoes how I got the first one of 60 loser..
In reply to bravos
In reply to Casper
60 (thought I saw a pair of shoes)
New answer below..
Didn't I quote your answer below? and it is 20...a yes or no would suffice.
Now if you name man, quote your correct answer for everyone to see.
I have to label you now: An uneducated pathological lying fool.
In reply to Courtesy
My mother used to say that, or if yuh a play man.
Real old memories.
In reply to goofballs
Yep. My old queen used to say it all the time. "If you name man..."
SILENCE !!
You hear me, SILENCE.
Now, students no ruckus in class. This is supposed to be a fun learning experience. Any more fussing from you two there in the back and its 500 lines - after school may I add.
Now, back to work and solve the problem.
In reply to Casper
Now don't tell me the figure is wearing two left shoes. But it is "no longer a math problem" as Pelon said.
All work must be completed in 25 minutes.
I see one potential Gold Star
Okay. Time Up!
Will the bald-headed "young" man there in the 2nd row, please stand up. You, yes you. You say you name is what? Pelon?. BTW, you think a lot about yourself with a name like that.
Well, anyhow, you get the Gold Star for the correct answer, but not without some help from that trouble-maker Courtesy, there in the back, who's always trying to needle his fellow student Bravos.
I must add, however that Dukestreet could have been a Gold Star, if ONLY he were a bit less careless and more observant.
So what do we learn from this problem? What lesson? The need to keenly observe the world around us.
Improving observation skills.
Improving your observation skills allows you to listen with more than just your ears and make better decisions. It also enhances your ability to interact with others and to respond in an appropriate manner. Both are keys to success at work and at home. In the workplace, a good employee not only listens well, but is also aware of what is happening around them.
Congrats Mr. Pelon
In reply to Casper
First time in history the teacher did not single me out for licks.
BTW: yes, pelon came from "bald head". It is latin american slang for bald man. I own my ugly ass bald head and the 3 brain cells therewithin
In reply to Courtesy
Ooops! Didnt see that...,,,trickery indeed!
In reply to Casper
I tort ypu woulda ask bravos how he came up with his answers? That would have been interesting.
In reply to black
I missed the multiplication sign.
Suh you do the addition then multiply .... smart dude!
The answer is 43.
In reply to pelon
You have failed to observe that he is wearing a pair of shoes.
In reply to cricketmad
You fail to observe that those tiny shoes cannot be weighted the same as the others ...
In reply to Kay
Everything in the pic is defined. Do you expect the shoes on the man's feet to appear as the same size, as defined about in the pic? The same goes for the two (2) bands on his hands.
In reply to Casper
I give 15 at 11:54 pm ... apparently you didn't observe
20! That multiplication sign was deceptive. Sneaker = 10; tie = 2; man = 5! Order of operation: multiply the value of man & tie then add sneaker's value.
Answer is 19.
Each shoe is 10
Each man is 5
Each tie is 4
Therefore a Tie + A man + A shoe =19
11
30
48 based on new realizations..
Never noticed he was wearing the shit too!!
fellas, de answer already confirmed doh!
So check page 2
In reply to pelon
Your partner is still trying to realize.
In reply to np
11 is wrong -
It is 12 -
1 shoe = 10 + 1 tie = 2 = 12 .....
The guy has weights in hand - no score was given for that figure - hence we assume = 0.
So 10 + 2 + 0 = 12
In reply to embsallie
Ent dat a multiplication sign sign between de man and de tie
In reply to pelon
Okay didn't check the preceding pages, just saw men still debating on this one so assumed it was still open...
In reply to Maispwi
Yep - so it is 10 + 0 x 2 = 10 ent...
since algebraically 0x2 = 0, and 0 + 10 == 10
This one requires serious EYE equity
In reply to pelon
Heck out Embsallies last comment OR have I had too many Guinnesses.
5 + ([5+10+2+2] x2) = 43
Shoe + [(man+2Shoes+2ties)×2]
I see some students are still at it in hope extra effort may warrant a few marks, even after the exams are over.
Lets explain: Multiplication is a higher order operation than addition, so in any equation multiplication is complete first.
Once the value of each item is established from the previous equations, you are able to tackle the last.
You must be observant enough to see the man is wearing a pair of shoes = 10
The man also has a band on each hand = 4
The man = 5
Total =19
Final answer 5 + 19x2 = 5+38 =43
In reply to Casper
So, the bands = 4, but the objects in his hands = 0 ???
Please explain!
In reply to cricketmad
Now looking at this. I got 43 as well.
In reply to Casper
Nice. I swear, Im seeing this post after I just posted.
Does np drink bush oil?
In reply to Casper
Yes, although 43 is what I got 2 days ago, it took zooming in on the image, which makes it more than a mathematical challenge and more of an investigative, observational challenge.
Those shoes on his feet and arm ties are so small... I file this as rass-trickery
Good fun
In reply to pelon
Yep the shoes and ties shrink while the size of the man remain the same, yet the smarty pants apply the same score to each to get 43
In reply to Kay
Yes.
But how would size make a difference. 3 small apples is still 3 apples. Not sure if you are suggesting because they are small that the unit differs. A shoe = 5 a pair = 10.
Amount is not relative to size. A unit is a unit.
In reply to pelon
Are you sure that further zooming would not reveal other units? Or that the tiny units are identical to their larger counterparts, except for size? Or that size does not change a unit's value?
Or, are all these factors subject to exclusive interpretation of the presenter? Fairness the Casper (ProWI) way, gladly accepted without question by "winner" pelon.
Ah, well.
In reply to Norm
No winners my friend, just good fun for the moment.
Smile.
