Let us dig a bit deeper into this, separate the meat from the bones so to speak.

This is to allow them to vote in local school board elections, their kids attend these schools.
Make no mistake the GOP measure would have had no practical effect even if it had passed. Illegal immigrants — and indeed noncitizens as a whole — are not legally able to participate in federal elections. cool

Experts say as many as 40 states or territories allowed noncitizen voting dating back to the nation’s founding in local elections such as school boards etc
wink

In the US don't you need some kind of registration to be able to vote in general/state elections, though? A social security number, etc.?

I mean, if I took a flight to the US the day of their elections, I couldn't walk to a polling station, say I'm such and such from 123 Park Road, and collect my ballot? Or are the checks and balances not really there?

Property taxes partially fund schools in CA, how many illegals own homes to fund schools their kids go to.

they are getting representation without taxation.

and its a slippery slope that sets precedence.

You have to register and furnish proof of your citizenship in order to vote in Federal elections.

The federal law does not prohibit noncitizens from voting in state or local elections, but no state has allowed noncitizens to vote in state elections since Arkansas became the last state to outlaw noncitizen voting in 1926.

More on it, google is your friend.

Yes, you need to provide proof of your citizenship to be registered to vote.

Here are my experiences in the recent past elections. Twice when Obama won and then when Trump won.

2008 - I went into my polling station (a high school) to vote and told my name. Seeing that I have an indo-guyanese long, last name, I figured they would ask for ID. They didn't. I found my name and, signed and took my ballot and did my thing.

2012 - Went to the same place. Again, I have my ID on me, but purposely wanted them to ask before I give it. They didn't ask again. I overheard someone making a ruckus as someone apparently had signed and voted instead of the actual person... so now he couldn't vote. Guess what? As I got to the front of the line, I still was not asked for my ID. Helped them find my name, did my thing; voted.

2016 -- Long story short. They again didn't as for ID, though, I have always had it on me. I decided to ask them why are they not asking me or anyone for ID. They laughed it off.

All in all... I can see why there is always voter-fraud. It happened right before my eyes.

Exactly. Last I checked on the breakdown... 50-something to 60% of the land taxes I pay (for 10 years in Queens) and now, in Long Island goes directly to the schools. Not only do the illegals not pay their fair share (if any), but I pay for it AND don't benefit from it. The last part is on me... cause I made that decision, but to your earlier point... how many of them pay their taxes?

they are getting representation without taxation.
'murica great, bro. those legal jackrasses like us pay all the taxes and the illegals get the benefit. some drive better cars than us and don't have to work.

and its a slippery slope that sets precedence.
you think? SMH

You just encountered untrained workers or worse who should not have had those jobs. iIf you had done your civic duty and complained to a Superior instead of willingly obliging they probably would have been fired. wink

So renters who are born in America and cannot afford to buy a house also should not be able to vote?
