Ethiopian Airlines crash
Too sad
In reply to nitro
Airbus again?
In reply to Drapsey
Not Airbus - Boeing - same new aircraft as the Lionair that crashed and killed everyone in Indonesia last year.
These aircraft should be recalled.
In reply to Chrissy
These aircraft should be recalled.
Do you know what caused the crash?
Boeing 737-Max - new make, one crashed in Java sea a few months ago
RIP
In reply to black
Yes, she did the FMEA by listening to the nitro side of her brain and the echoes of her fart.
Clearly a recall!
Ref. pitch bussying is not engineering...
Really sad, Ive flown this route many times by myself and with colleagues. Waiting to hear if anyone I know was on that flight. RIP to all and sympathies to all those affected.
In reply to Larr Pullo
Sad indeed. I hate taking flights and yes they do not happen very often. When they do however they take out more lives than some countries/states experience in motor vehicle accidents for a year.
Dammit what's up with the max? Stall recovery software MCAS glitch, human error, terrorism, sabotage ?..let's wait and see..
CAL suppose to be getting 12 of these soon..
RIP

Was just going to post that
It was not clear what caused the Ethiopian Airlines plane to go down in clear weather. The accident was strikingly similar to last year's crash of a Lion Air jet that plunged into the Java Sea, killing 189 people. Both crashes involved the Boeing 737 MAX 8, and both happened minutes after the jets became airborne.

Too sad
Awful. Those planes seem to have a stalling problem.
An informed poster at another site says
That was a simplified version, mind you. The bottom line is that the airplane was intentionally made less safe to save money. It is not fixable. We'll have to accept the aditional risk.
In reply to steveo
So maybe these aircraft should be recalled.
In reply to mikesiva
I know I wont be flying on one, they are using software to compensate for a flaw in design AND MOST IMPORTANTLY which overrides the pilots input
In reply to steveo
So they accept there is a flaw. They need to recall them.
In reply to nitro
Well u know big business, if the politicians allow them to endanger lives and profit, why should they care
Boeing is also a major defense contractor, I expect kid gloves and empty words
Tests for new aircraft

Absolutely tragic and heart breaking.
One of my colleagues always tells me she gets uneasy every time she flies together with her husband and 2 children.
From the Stable Genius
"Airplanes are becoming far too complex to fly. Pilots are no longer needed, but rather computer scientists from MIT. I see it all the time in many products. Always seeking to go one unnecessary step further, when often old and simpler is far better. Split second decisions are needed, and the complexity creates danger. All of this for great cost yet very little gain. I dont know about you, but I dont want Albert Einstein to be my pilot. I want great flying professionals that are allowed to easily and quickly take control of a plane!"

Is there an english translation for this? Most of us (maj the vaj the exception) don't speak Dotardese.
