And that right there says it all.
Im sure if they ask these same fans if they prefer filet mignon or a hamburger, the vast majority will answer filet mignon. Some of those same fans never even had filet mignon, but they voting for it anyway.
Then look at sales of filet mignon versus hamburger and is a different story

Mere conjecture ..
Cited in the survey, the recent victories by Sri Lanka and West Indies over higher ranked teams helped increased the popularity of test cricket.
The large disparity in payments to boards by ICC doesn't help the cause.
Greater revenues needs to be paid to invest specifically in grassroot development.
The white ball leagues need to be kept in check as well
Must be careful here. There's a selection bias in the survey as a whole here to contend with.
Plus, there are issues that aren't brought up in the survey, such as asking what Test cricket can do to be more appealing.
There should be follow-ups to gauge opinions on items like a Test Championship, restrictions on participants, overload in certain series. Hopefully the MCC will continue their research.

I thought the results of the survey proved that test cricket is more appealing!
Test cricket is best, until the Windies win another T20 World Cup.
or until India starts to lose at home, which is unlikely
Test cricket need big stars to get people out...maybe some with big mouths to stir things up
