GUYANA
Guyana has the capacity to do well. The country needs to provide economic support for the poorest people to reduce crime. If people feel safe to live and visit there, life could be much better and prosperous for everyone living there - even without exporting oil.
Like many other places in the Caribbean, tho, we prefer to live like crabs in a barrel - jumping on each other's back and poking each other in the eye for short-term gain.

They need to clean up that place.
Govt has some kind of "Green Initiative" where they slash the parapets etc, but no kinda garbage bins in public areas for example traveling on the big boats, you will be challenged to find a place to dispose of garbage, it ends up thrown directly in the river.
I think like with everything politics, they are insincere and just looking for ways to loot treasury for their friends and family

This current regime did that for a hot minute and then.........
How are they expected to build their brand on that news with NO ADS NOR WEBSITE LINKS to accompany this story??

Dem people head hard. I took some Jamaicans to Kaieteur and there was not a single Tee shirt in sight or memorabilia about Kaieteur that they could purchase. As a matter of fact I would wager that less than half of the Guyanese on this ya board have NEVER VISITED KAIETEUR.
My friend Gerry Gouveia will be happy with this publicity

They need sustainable systems, not just one off publicity stunts

I have been there 3 times, I am torn as to how commercial it should be made, do we go the route of Dunns River Falls in Ocho Rios where you have run the gauntlet of the art village to exit the falls or something in between?
In reply to Ninetenjack
You have presented two extremes. My view is that there has to be some memorabilia and artifacts about Kaieteur so that when you leave, you have something tangible that you can show people from where you live and thus encourage them to visit what is a spectacular natural phenomenon.I can not think of any other iconic site that does not have some artifacts .

Tell us about the crime stats from 2015 to now, compared to what obtained before and in the Caribbean
Plus , tell us how many in the hemisphere growing at 3.4%
In reply to jala
Are you trying to make a point?
Popular opinion has it that violent crime has skyrocketed under the current government. Do you disagree?
Every country makes up its own vague "growth rate", including and excluding whatever suits them. Unless your "3.4%" is based on a UN or World Bank source and on $US for a certain year, it would be meaningless, except for propaganda purposes.
So, get your act together and try again. Guyana has hardly done anything of economic note since its independence, and it shows little aspiration of doing so.
AYUH CAN start a different thread to talk bout crime
