Well in this very Forum on several Occasions I cited the fact that
Officials of BCCI which is similarly
Structured like the WICBC , were verbally slapped around by the Supreme
Court of India .

This matter arose when THE LODAR
COMMITTEE in India informed the BCCI
that it had to make certain changes.
The Officials in the BCCI were tardy
in implementing those Changes .

THE INDIA SUPREME COURT REMOVED THE

PRESIDENT OF THE BCCI FROM HIS POST

OF BEING THE PRESIDENT OF THE BCCI .

THE SECRETARY OF THE BCCI WAS ALSO

DISCIPLINED .

I cited the above in this Forum some
years ago . The Supreme Court told the BCCI that it could not deem itself as being a Private Entity , when it selects Players from all parts of India to be members of the
India Cricket Team .

BTW , I also cited the fact that the
BCCI presented to the Supreme Court
a letter from the President of the
ICC ; that letter was IGNORED by the
Supreme Court of India .

What a waste of taxpayers' money, and very poor strategy in addressing problems in WI cricket. The ICC fully supports CWI, and vice versa.

Caricom itself could easily banish a "bad" CWI, and all the crooked regional boards supporting CWI, if it were more united and really wanted to.

Just another wasteful political show.

Correct is right.

Talk shop as usual.

NOTHING will come out of this.

When the previous Guyana government tried to clean up cricket in Guyana by putting Clive lloyd at a head of a cricket committee with a mandate to make recommendations.....no support whatsoever came from any other govt ...including the political opposition in Guyana....and which is now the current government....the GCB fully backed by CWI was able to defy the courts of Guyana....

Now T&T have started to try to change their structure....unsuccessful so far...Ramnarine and Ganga seem discouraged now...they lost in court

Word around is the bajans are trying too..are they?

Doom and Gloom it is

To the point and taking no prisoners, you have summarized the situation pellucidly.

We have Caricom with PM's who can have CWI at its knees if they wish. As usual a gutless bunch of talkers.

They all have to follow the Supreme Court of India, precedence is available.

They are appealing the decision. They had a meeting with Growley and the Attorney General, the Government has ordered an investigation.

All dis shoite POINT talking equating CARICOM wid de Supreme Court of India. CARICOM is governed by consensus so it just takes one dissenting voice to derail anyting. Even when dey have consensus Governments delay implementing agreements and sometimes never do.

Dey all agreed to have a common cruies ship tax but by de time dey got to dere respective homes dey found all kinda excuses why dey cudn

Our Problem is that the Governments in the Region are not United , there are
at least 2 Governments in the Region
who will always support Cameron & Co.

Those Governments have neither Integrity or Shame .Sadly they are
only interested in earning a Few
Dollars nothing else matters to them .

dayne 2019-03-12 15:51:59

Good to see someone is trying to correct a flaw in the system, it is for the good of the region, the present managers of cricket it seems do not have the betterment of cricket as their top priority.

Sometimes the facts get in the way and the truth is inconvenient. Could it be that these guys have never heard of the CARICOM consensus requirement? Or is it that they do not know that Prime Minister Browne and Holness do not seem to share the view of the Mitchells?

What is particularly abhorrent is that if one points out these challenges then instead of addressing the issues the intellectuals resort to the second form tactic of shouting 'Cameron supporter'.

jelfew 2019-03-13 22:01:20

The fact that CARICOM has not moved beyond the stand they took in 2015 is indicative of how they would move west indies cricket forward. Let me ask Mr Gonzales the question he intended to ask. Is cricket for the good of the people?

I would like to see the Cameron administration changed because there needs to be an end to the stalemate that exists between CARICOM, that represents the regional governments and the the board of West Indies Cricket. That is not good for cricket in the region. We need to move on.

It is so simple!!!!!

See how many games have been played at the Mecca in
the last 3 years?

Compare it to T&T/Jamaica/ Guyana?

Does BCA support Cameron?
In return, Cameron looks towards BCA....
Ask the Barbados Government what they bid for such
games to be played at the Mecca?

Conclusion

Isn't such, a way of supporting CWI/Cameron?

sigh

Are you aware that BigB oppose Cameron and TTCB voted for Cameron?
Barbados has been putting it bids in, to get games at the Mecca.
You think after spending millions to develop that stadium, they should wait for handouts.
I've been to Antigua twice since 2007, saw Stanford ground when it was lust, saw it a number of years later, when it was a caw pasture.
Viv Richards does plenty advertising for the Antigua tourist board in Australia and England, you really think the government of Antigua, would not bid for these two teams games?
Tourism is what pay our bills

Any government of Barbados, that fail to bid for International matches against India, Australia, South Africa or England, now doing the sporting public of the Island justice.
The BCA is a small body, not Barbados public or its government, that is Why Skirrett and Shallot was invited to speak to Barbadians at UWI, had a call in show on CBC and yesterday, on Mason and Guests.

You asked this question above, then said Barbados putting in bids for games.

Now by doing such, isn't it supporting Cameron?

Every Game Barbados gets is support for CWI/Cameron.

What year did you start following cricket?
Since the 2007 WC, Islands have to bid for games, so whether it was H&H, the Trini pres or Cameron, Barbados has been bidding for teams to play at the Mecca.
BTW, this new government went after the last one, for not bidding on games for the women WC, not one game was played at the Mecca.
Are you aware that Hampshire is one of the Barbados tourist board sponso?, check the team jersey.

Dat eh quite true. Barbados, T&T and Jamaica objected to some of the costs that dey were being required to meet and Guyana, St. Lucia and Antigua had no such objection

If you guys goinig to the archives you will find an article that I had written predicting that WI cricket would turn into a dog eat dog free for all after the WC as territories tried to find use for their expensive stadia and repay the loans that the WICB/WC Committee had encouraged. Hosting the WC is similar to countries hosting the Olympics. Lots of incurred costs, and not enough events after the fact to support the expenditures in New Stadia etc, leading to pain for the tax payers.

What pvrtjones and Point don't understand, if you want a game, you must outbid the others, and pay to get it.
Cameron has nothing to do with which Island get games, all he want is the money.

Cricket/sporting events and entertainment are the only revenue these Stadiums bring in.
