The Curious Case of Guyana..

..Winning the Championship 5 consecutive times but only have about 3 of their members in the international squad.

Is it because?

1) They win due to collective effort and without standouts? Hetmyer/Paul excepted even if they have not played a lot of 4 day cricket.

2) The myth that Barbados is historically the savior of West Indies cricket and therefore there is an unconscious bias to automatically select their players even if the team has been struggling for many years?

3) They (Guyana) perform better in all departments and therefore just need to do the basics to succeed?

4) The other teams suck?

Aside: Where is Pestano? I have a lot of time for that young man..

6) Barbados has not played their best team for many seasons??

7) The standard of our regional cricket has declined even more with most of our experience players opting to play T20 tournaments??

cool Bajan Raymon Reifer continues to prop up Guyana??

But what does it tell you?

You can answer you own questions. no?

And BTW, Hety and Keemo recently made their WI debut, going back 5 years, there was probably no Guyanese in WI team, yet Guyana won the tourney.

If you revisited the past champs Bim and JA had 5 consecutive titles , but did not had any significant representation in the WI team. Winning the championship is more about working as a cohesive unit.

Sometimes I wonder if some people on this board are in LA LA LAND.
The people who play for the West Indies rarely play in the PCL.

As intimated above when teams are winning it usually that they are rebuilding. Guyana has already started to reap the rewards with Hety, Paul, Rutherford etc. They will be the main players in a few years. Whilst bim was rebuilding Trinidad was dominating wi teams.
