If Shiv wanted a farewell...
Tell dat to Clive Lloyd...who is trying to make yet another come back
Shiv didn't want farewell....he wanted two tests...after which he was ready to go
In reply to Larr Pullo
Look beyond Shiv and dont continue to go to a lower level all your life bro. When hate or dislike cloud your thinking, you can and will never get promoted to being a Duke!
In reply to Narper
Shiv had more than enough time to break Lara's record. Just waiting around for him to block and jook his way to Lara's record was a disservice to Shiv, WI cricket, and most of all Lara.
Most WI fans are happy with Shiv's place in the pantheon of WI cricket.

You think I have tim to hate and dislike Shiv? Shiv was a great servant to WI cricket, but he sullied his career at the end by not controlling his own destiny. Facts!
In reply to Larr Pullo
What would it have taken out of WI cricket to give Shiv two more tests?
What did WI have to lose? Was there any chance of even competing and beating OZ?
Were there obvious replacements??? Was shiv going to keep out a young turk in those two tests???
Has ANYONE replaced Shiv after 4 years of retirement?
This whole discussion must be in the context of WI cricket at the time.
If Shiv's team mates at the time were performing way better than him....or young turks were beating down the door...Shiv would have had to go quietly....and no protest from any quarter.
6 months before Shiv was sent packing....Lloyd publicly said Shiv was going no where because he was fit at his age and still performing well.....a bad patch for the first time in over 10 years....he was obscenely sent packing with undue haste......THEN de skunts foisted nonentity Chandrika on WI fans...an obvious attempt to pacify indo muddie fans and other Shiv supporters......bullshit I say.

Your hate for for Shiv is so ultimate, you spelt time in hurried anger!
How many did not get a chance to sullied their career after omen being servants of WI cricket? WI cricket should start to outlive the Fire of Babylon mentality!
Shiv followed in Viv's footsteps..Viv wanted a shot at one more WC and plenty supported him..
In reply to Khaga
Cameron is rightly making sure Universe Boss gets his last shot.
In reply to Khaga
Viv was love by the majority throughout his career, Shiv was love by some, coming toward the end of his career.
A number of fans wanted him to retire.
Viv was never accuse of selfishness.
BTW, this has nothing to do, with loyalty and the greatness of the two super West Indians, it is how us fans perceive the two.
In reply to Narper
100% in agreement with you there. That was utter bullshit.
However, if anyone was truly responsible for Shiv being dropped from the team it was Simmons, who clearly wanted to mold his own team and felt that Shiv did not quite fit his vision of the team ethos. None can fault him there. Lshing out at Lloyd and everyone else does not take away the responsibility of Shiv managing the end of his career. If Shiv had announced that he was leaving after the England series, I bet he wouldn't have been dropped.
It's similar to after the World Cup Gibson said he was going to start developing a new ODI team and rightly, because of his age Shiv was not seen as part of the future plans. He was asked to retire from ODI's so that he could focus more on test cricket...the result, Jagdeo picketing WI cricket.
Contrast Shiv with players like Alistair Cook and Nassir Hussain. They announced when their last series would be and bowed out, no fuss no waiting for selectors to push them out, as it should be for players with excellent careers whose skills are clearly on the wane.
HOla.....Undoubted there was great a possibility that Shiv would had been the holder of the most test runs by a WI batsman if that India series was not sabotaged by Bravo et al...
We have no vision..had Shiv been given the opportunity he surely would had gone past 12000 runs and a WEst Indian would had been in the annals.OK so he was not making a big imoact with the bat when he was dropped/kicked out/pushed out/sent on a suicide mission..(whatever you call it)...but he went back to regional games and English county cricket got back his magic but was still ignored..
There is a fella by the name by the name of Devon Smith who was recalled after a non performing test career because he reinvented himself at the regional level..
That is a triple standard not a double one..
Dropping of Shiv reeks of a deliberate attempt to deny him of the record.
LLoyd got away with this because PPP lost the election and he no longer had to stay close and be friendly with Bharrat.THATS A FACT.
When people talk of West Indies great cricketers Shiv 's name is never mentioned...they need to look at that sterling average and re think..VIV R name is always mentioned...REALLY???Because he has a swagger???Does he have a better test average than Shiv..
look at the average not swagger..its a return on investment ..any savvy investor will take an extra point on their investment...just saying.
This episode is in the history book...
Lloyd engineered this set up...even the present government got wise to him.
Adios

This is like the 34 votes for majority out of 65 lol. Look Shiv was not the macho image Like a Viv but he was there like a rock for his team.It is clear as day he was "rawdealed" at the end. But.. lets deny that and move on to the next West Indian Cricket shenanigans.
shiv shud still get his farewell or at least have a good long chat with hope ....value your wicket fool
not too late for a farewell
couple bokkle rum and some cook-up rice
