The new selection committee should spend some time reevaluating and reassessing current players. Then recommendation should be made regarding selection changes in the near future. Selection should be based on consistent performances on the field only. In fact, there should always be at least 2 other players competing with the incumbent player for that position, in order to prevent feelings of entitlement, automatic selection, favoured selection aka friendism, complacency and to encourage consistent performances among team members. Players who refuse to perform consistently will be removed in short order. Favoured selection aka friendism went with Browne and company.

I thought it crucial at this time in this transitional period that important changes will be made to our selection criteria. Mr Skerritt already mentioned that selection will be based only on performances in the field and not due to non-cricketing reasons, so this is just a reasonable enhancement of his expectations.
