T&T’s un­der-19 women’s crick­eters com­plet­ed back-to-back wins dur­ing the open­ing day of the Crick­et West In­dies and T&T Women’s Crick­et As­so­ci­a­tion’s re­gion­al un­der-19 T20 com­pe­ti­tion, yes­ter­day.

The tour­na­ment is be­ing played at sev­er­al venues in cen­tral Trinidad and re­quires each of the six teams to play two match­es dai­ly.

In their first as­sign­ment at the Na­tion­al Crick­et Cen­tre (NCC) in Bal­main, Cou­va T&T caused con­stant dis­rup­tion dur­ing the Bar­ba­dos in­nings af­ter los­ing the toss and be­ing asked to bowl. Steffie Soogrim forced an ear­ly break­through by claim­ing the wick­et of the open­er, Shai Car­ring­ton who was caught by Djen­a­ba Joseph for just nine with the score on 21 in­to the fifth over.

From then on, the home team was able to pick up wick­ets reg­u­lar­ly as on­ly mid­dle or­der batswoman Shaunte Car­ring­ton got 26 runs for the Ba­jans.
