The WI world Cup squad - as announced by selectors
In reply to Narper
Is this just your speculation or was this really the squad they announced?
In reply to jacksprat
That's it!
In reply to jacksprat
The announced squad
In reply to Narper
I am interested in Mullah Emir's thoughts about this squad ... well not really
In reply to Narper & Kay
Thanks.
The only real question I would have is Carlos Brathwaite. Nice cricketer but I really don't think he cuts it.
In reply to Walco
No dottie in the side
Cuss for Skerrit?
I was disappointed that the reporters in attendance did not ask about Big Bravo, Sammy, Simmons or Paul
In reply to Narper
Decent team. Wish them all the best.
In reply to Narper
Joseph injured ...
In reply to Walco
I am especially disappointed Paul didn't make the cut.
He was being groomed to be the death bowler.
He is playing IPL so I would imagine he is fit.
Anyway we have some fast men in Roach, Gabriel and Cotterel....and Russel should be able to deliver a few fast ines too
In reply to Walco
yes...Al Jo out of IPL with a hand injury sustained when he dived to stop a ball going into the boundary...may be long term
In reply to Ray123
Ditto...although I would have liked to see some .....therapy administered!
So WHEN will the WI players leave the IPL?
Gayle
Russell
Pooran
Hetmyer
Thomas
This is the question which should have been asked at the announcement of the team?
Risk of injury is high at the IPL..as the tournament is winding down
In reply to Walco
Give them Kudos...

It was weird. The Englishman said members of the Barbados media could now ask questions directed to Jimmy Adams, Robert Haynes, & Floyd Reifer.
I found it odd he said that. Sounded like Barbados Media had first right to questions. Either that, or there were no members of other regional
Media present. If the latter, that would be extremely surprising
Paul should be there.
And is nurse really the best white ball spinner in the Caribbean???
Jason Holder (Captain)
John Campbell
Darren Bravo
Shai Hope
Sheldon Cottrell
Shannon Gabriel
Kemar Roach
Sunil Ambris
Raymon Reifer
Fabian Allen
Ashley Nurse
Roston Chase
Shane Dowrich
Jonathan Carter
Names bolded will be on standby
Why no Keemo, but Carlos???
In reply to imusic
You can really nit pick.
In reply to jacksprat
I think that's the biggest question
We might want to say Nurse, but he good lower order bats when he ready and could pick up a wicket or two.
But the question still hangs over Braitwaite's head, I don't see him in the XI but if one of Holder or Russell injured he'll come in.
In reply to Narper
Yes man. I'm disappointed that Keemo did not make it also. Carlos will have to do well to justify Paul's exclusion, but I don't see Carlos playing much cricket during this WC anyway.
Browne getting serious cuss fi dis team...sorry I cornfused...dis en Browne team...well somebody getting cuss
In reply to Oilah
Why dem cussing him....no Dowrich, Chase, Carter nor Reifer?
In reply to imusic
As someone who once did sports reporting for Radio Jamaica, I would be surprised if they spent the money to send someone to this.
Attending this would be low priority for the jamaican media.

I guess it could be worse, he does have better figures with bat and ball than lets say a Rovman, or even Keemo, who never took his chances, and is all potential right now i suppose
In reply to DIEHARD
The squad seems a bit short on one or two more specialist batsmen.
In reply to mikesiva
Keemo should be a sure pick. Not sure what these guys are thinking.
Carlos, Russell and Jason filled up the pace-bowling, all rounder spot. Hence Keemo goes by the wayside.
In reply to imusic
I assumed that it was a Barbados only media contingent at the announcement when I heard that statement. I would be surprised if media from other countries were present in person given that it was live-streamed, but CWI should have allowed for questions from journalists viewing online ...
In reply to mikesiva
We dont have many who put their hands up tbh..which is why i would have had Pollard or Powell..cos other than those two..you talking about Ambris and Chase who although they've done fairly well in List A...are unknown quantities at ODI Level.
Can't complain too much, we're going to be asking a lot of numbers 6-8, looking like Russell, Holder & Brathwaite/Allen/ Nurse
No Keemo? I guess I won't have to waste my time with this team, except to see how Russell doing.
In reply to jacksprat
I agree also where is Chase
In reply to DIEHARD
Listen whilst Pollard is a great Fielder he offers not much more. Our problem with this game is we always want to show boat well I think it is time we focus on playing to win. I was a Pollard fan for years and for me he has not delivered his potential. The team slected is good i would have like to have seen Chase instead of Carlos
In reply to Domic
Somebody arbitrary decided he should not play limited overs and that became law? He is well suited for ODI, imho.
Paul and Roy are notable omissions.
The certain IPL seniors not named reflect a policy decision, which I can respect/accept.
In reply to Domic
How would that replacement, balance the X1?
Would you had taken three spinners to England?
