Should Cornwall have been selected...

spider 2019-04-24 22:15:46

...ahead of Nurse or Allen? I think he is better than both and deserved an opportunity.

DIEHARD 2019-04-24 22:16:02

In reply to spider

No..he's indisciplined

spider 2019-04-24 22:18:25

In reply to DIEHARD

He is? I never heard any reports of his indiscipline.

solidrock 2019-04-24 22:19:19

I am "bad" Cornwall fan. But, I am not faulting the selectors for not selecting him this time. He plays for our test team to play India later in the year.

DIEHARD 2019-04-24 22:22:01

In reply to spider

His failure to drop pounds tells me everything i need to know..he cant be following a regimen and not get to the fitness level required, he's a young man, its inexcusable.

spider 2019-04-24 22:26:11

In reply to DIEHARD

he probably does need to get slimmer but even at his weight I think he is better than Nurse and Allen

DIEHARD 2019-04-24 22:33:05

In reply to spider

List A cricket stats supports that claim, but if they have asked you to follow a regimen to make the team, and he can't or won't, no one to blame but himself really

spider 2019-04-24 22:44:10

In reply to DIEHARD

So that happened? They gave him a program which he refused to follow?

InHindsight 2019-04-24 22:45:39

To not include Cornwall in the final fifteen isn't a traversty. Had he been given deserved run coming into the WC then we could have mooted the argument.

All things being considered not a bad squad.

DIEHARD 2019-04-24 22:54:51

In reply to spider

They said he was being put ona special program

spider 2019-04-24 23:08:55

In reply to DIEHARD

I heard that they were planning to but do you know that they actually did?

A few years ago Cornwall was sent by CWI to a facility in Florida for one month and he lost 30 pounds. He was told that he would be sent back to the same facility a year later if he followed the program prescribed by the facility and showed progress with his weight and fitness. Cornwall returned home and apparently gained back the weight he had lost and the rest as they say is history.

Don't listen to those people on here talking about Cornwall being victimized. He is the one holding himself back ...

Yes.

Yep
At the level of professional sport, overweight, especially to his extent, if a sign of indiscipline

anthonyp 2019-04-25 12:00:28

If you check it almost all the top teams got ah wrist spinner..

WI missed ah trick by not giving Imran Khan ah chance .. they kept picking waste man Bishoo all the time.. now we stuck with couple finger spinners with no variations

Jumpstart 2019-04-25 12:35:01

In reply to spider

if nurse can be picked.....who is waste as a cricketer, then certainly yes

InHindsight 2019-04-25 12:35:45

In reply to anthonyp

Did Browne and co. owe anything to Bishoo?

anthonyp 2019-04-25 12:42:37

In reply to InHindsight

Look so.. man get ah spin coach and still couldn't improve..

Look like we heading in the same direction with Reifer and Carlos now.. CCC runnings

FuzzyWuzzy 2019-04-25 12:49:48

In reply to anthonyp

So the problem is BROWN or CCC?

MAKE UP YUH MIND

What he is saying fuzzy.......is that bajans rabidly tribal and it is not beyond doubt that floyd reifer allowed nationalism to influence some of the picks
Examples:
*boycott of the SA test in 92 over Anderson Cummings

Walco 2019-04-25 13:16:48

In reply to anthonyp

Carlos earned his WC pick with his performances against England boss. Check the stats. But I would not be complaining if Keemo had been selected instead of Carlos

FuzzyWuzzy 2019-04-25 13:21:17

In reply to Jumpstart

So now floyd can overrule chairman Haynes whereas Browne was responsible for every decision before.

The more you post the more your insularity comes through.

66 runs in four innings, one which he made 50 on the grenada featherbed. 5 wickets in 5 matches at an avg of 38? our standards rell low then

Fuzzy i just dealing with logic here bro....carlos brathwaite cannot even make the franchise team that fork out 500,000 rupees for him. other WI allrounders who are in the ipl are playing....getting game time while brathwaite cant make a team that has lost 5 matches on the trot......
And i'm sorry for saying bajans are rabidly tribal, that was totally uncalled for

buds 2019-04-25 14:26:20

Where are you gonna play Cornwall? He is a liability on the team...in all areas.

spider 2019-04-25 14:29:28

You think Nurse and Allen are better?

FuzzyWuzzy 2019-04-25 14:39:09

In reply to Jumpstart

Carlos is playing today btw

And so is Oshane

By your logic Evan Lewis should not be in the squad either? or are you making a distinction for allrounders, despite the fact that 2 top allrounders in Russell and Narine are in the same KKR squad?

By the way Dwayne Smith had a long and successful career in IPL, won IPL with Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians and Chennai and did not get a peak in at 50 over Intl for wi in most of that career. It was C.Browne and Otis that ended his career. Where were the rabidly tribal bajan selectors then.

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

It is all insular, nothing else.
The interim COS did most of the talking yesterday, yet the interim coach is being blame for the selection.
A month ago, it was all Courtney Browne, now it is Reifer.
Bajans seem to have more balls than others, on every selection panel.
