In 89 Oba was about 13 years old and Wes Hall was minister of sports.

Ok borse thanks. I got the year wrong. Humblest apologies.
Cappy became a Minister in 1994 and I was there to hear him sing the refrain in 1997 when Barbados came second, got 32 medals and was making grand predictions about overthrowing Jamaica in the near future.
Oba had swept all before him in '94 and Oxley and Louis in '97 were looking like world beaters so it was mango season in Bim. Glory days.
