I am sure someone here mentioned that Gayle should be the VC for the WC. CWI listening to us.

WI_cricfan 2019-05-06 18:58:05

good for Gayle, he deserve this

imusic 2019-05-06 19:05:14

Actually, it was suggested that Gayle be the captain

Jason Holder’s record, both as player and captain in ODI’s, is mediocre

In fact, he’s lucky to have a place in the first XI in ODI cricket.

Sammyesque.

Except, Sammy was a better captain.

I concur

lawd

back up please

so far all indications tell me hes the best odi all rounder we've had for awhile

higher batting average that dwayne, pollard and sammy
bowling the only thing dwayne has on him which is just 29 compared to his 33

he is better than all his previous odi predecessors

Jason Holder’s record, both as player and captain in ODI’s, is mediocre

Lord, please help Jason to be a better captain. Lord please let him know that he can use his bowlers in short and even very short rotations. Remind him dear Lord that there is no rule limiting the number of bowlers he can use. Amen

FuzzyWuzzy 2019-05-06 20:20:16

For the record both Gayle and Sammy like Jason have lost more ODIs than they have won. Indeed no modern windies captain is over 50%

if memory serves so was Sammy in ODIs.

You might want to review those numbers

natty_forever 2019-05-06 20:25:53

In reply to imusic … however, he is improving unlike ...

In reply to natty_forever

He did well in the recent test series against England

Remains to be seen if he has improved as a captain IMO

Remember, he was also captain against England in the T20 series

Spoilt101 2019-05-06 21:17:23

If hope have a good run in this series and the world cup I could see him taking over as captain of the ODI team.

Maispwi 2019-05-06 22:11:09

In reply to imusic

How much better a captain was Sammy given the relative strengths of the teams dey had if Sammy's ODI win % is 37% compared with Holder's 30% and dere loss % are 59 and 61

DIEHARD 2019-05-06 22:52:44

In reply to Maispwi

What's the quality of the opposition?

I'd bet Sammy played more against major nations, none against Afghanistan, and less Vs Ireland, Scotland and the like

What?

U not in that much disbelieve that holder got better numbers that bravo and polly, right?

A quick check on cricinfo will confirm the stats

Which pray did you use for Gayle when he was captain, it is the same pray for VC .

Stat does not matter, On sunday Shai every minister at the 'Church of What happening now ' read praises to Shai, tomorrow the same congregation will be nailing him to the cross along with Jason.

"In fact, he’s lucky to have a place in the first XI in ODI cricket"

IMO he is more than able to command a place in the odi team. He's developed into a world class allrounder.

His overall batting and bowLing stats FYI...

I did not hear you pray when Gayle was at the helm, you 'born again christian'or a caribbean baptist

Pardners check the link
These are his overall odi batting and bowling stats.

You stated that he's lucky to have a place on the odi xi...I am of the view that he does merit a place

Itito bias hard
I guarantee he got no interest in doing the research

U not in that much disbelieve that holder got better numbers that bravo and polly, right?

1 - I never brought up either Bravo or Pollard. You did that all in your own. Which says everything about you and YOUR projection of YOUR bias by ascribing it to me.

2 - Since YOU brought it up, in ODI’s Holder has a 26.26 batting average and a 33.05 bowling average.with36 catches

In ODI’s Bravo has a 25.36 batting average and a 29.52 bowling average with 73 catches

So in YOUR world, one in which only you inhabit, Holder’s 90 edge in batting average is enough to surpass a deficit of 3.53 in bowling average compared to Bravo and half of the catches Bravo has taken

Don’t know if your slip can go any higher, but yuh neck and all expose

But BOTH Bravo and Pollard are moot points.

Bravo has retired from international cricket. Pollard was not in consideration for a place in the West Indies World Cup squad so bringing up their names in this discussion is just a red herring on your part and only serves to demonstrate your ignorance

I maintain. Holder has been a poor captain in ODI’s. As an all rounder, he’s been so so. And he’s lucky to be in the first XI in my opinion.

Having stated the above , who would you pick in the team before Holder?

Bro, why you lying?

Holders Batting average is 25.82 higher than bravo, pollard and sammy

and i brought those 3 up because you claim that holder doesnt deserve a place in the XI, yet he has better numbers that the 3 most would say were our better all rounders in the past decade

In fact, he’s lucky to have a place in the first XI in ODI cricket.

bold statement without merit
