No strategy...nothing, nothing, nothing.
Fellas, just keep your expectations to the "extremely low level" and hope that Gayle and Lewis will destroy a few bowlers along the way.
This seemingly lack of skills is endemic problem and there is no short term solution.
Dais all.

Can't bat, can't bowl and can't field Waste Indies.

West Indies had no power players in the front end and back end.
Was asking much of the bowlers who didn't bowl well though, to defend that score on this wicket.
Dais all

You saw this and the people we pay did not see it.
Our brains trust in West Indies cricket don't think cricket.
With a score of less than 180 in the 40th over, Chase was still looking for a single off the last ball after 5 dots to score his 50 when he should have been lashing ball and when the previous over yielded only 3 runs. He poked the whole over searching for a single.
Shai on the other hand, poked his way to a hundred and wasted many balls in the 90's with overs running out and only 2 wickets down.
Only with the West Indies.

Just as lost as some of us here.

Far too many of us here, in the WI mgt and team just see numbers and put the strategic approach on the shelf.
Arent there people here claiming that Roston Chase should have been included in the named World Cup squad?

The thinking might very well be that the spinning department is so weak that he can help out with a few overs. But as usual we attempt to solve a consequence of a problem and not the problem itself.
The bigger problem is that there are no average spinners in the Caribbean. Just shits.
I have been saying this for years..."cut our losses with Bishoo" and identify and train some young spinners. By now one of them woulda reach average performance. This predicament that we are currently facing was bound to happen.
I understand the frustration but that is why they are playing these warm-up games the coaching staff is new, the captain is still learning, many things have to be work out. Also Bangladesh is a better ODI team the a Test match team.

They seemed to be cultivating Warrican, just like they seem to have given up on Permaul.
Miller retire out of sheer frustration
Pierre shows some promise
Theyve refused to select the all rounder with the most consistent stats in regional cricket for the past several years
Theyre extremely sweet on Ashley Nurse and he gets all of the spin assignments, whether hes successful or not or whether or not hes a liability in the field.
So it goes for spinners in West Indies cricket
In reply to dayne
Mate, this situation has existed since 1995. This is past endemic.

Warrican is tres ordinaire. Pierre shows some promise but there is a dearth of average spinners in the game.
Ashley Nurse is there by default. This World Cup will expose him. Mark my word.
Could it be that last panel selected a leggie and offie (Nurse n Bishoo) with the hope that they'd be good by this WC but failed to see that the two weren't up to scratch. Or was there some bias as well

England is a tough place for spin bowlers so I would not be surprise if Nurse is left out for some matches. I would like to see Allen in a game, he might be an interesting option as he is a better batsmen and fielder than Nurse

Any strategy moving forward should embrace a vibrant youth cricket structure managed by professionals. This is not rocket science. We have failed miserably in the past in that regard to the detriment of West Indies cricket.
The current social welfare structure (PCL) rewards mediocrity and was conceived to guarantee votes at the CWI leadership level. It cannot continue to form part of any future blueprint in its current form. Any expenditure on West Indies cricket must be evaluated properly and must pass the muster of cost effectiveness. Again this is not rocket science. Unless we implement this strategic imperative we shall be in an abyss in perpetuity.

Don't fall into the same trap as some of the fans.
Carter,Chase and Ambris will be replace, with Lewis, Pooran, Gayle and Hetmyer, four Power hitters.
Cottrell, Roach, Thomas, Gabriel and Holder will have to be the lead bowlers, with Nurse, Russell and others assisting

I would rather have chase than Nurse. He can bat and offers something in the spin department. Maybe our quick bowlers need to be looked at we should have done better at trying to defend that score. But this is a warm up game for us and I hope we learn from it. Do you think if we had scored closer to 300 we would have won? Come on
In reply to Domic
What exactly can we learn?
- Hope is required in the team to give consistency and be the glue around the other power hitters. Problem is that Bravo is a similar kind of batsman - can we "afford" to have 2 of these types of batsmen in the team especially as they don't bowl either?
- WI don't play spin well...maybe Chase could really be considered as a reserve since he does and also can bowl a few overs
- The "pace" attack needs to also start thinking about variety and control - they may not be able to "blast" batsmen out all the time
- You need people who can hit a ball lower down the order when you want to up the scoring...all we had was Nurse in this match
We need to start a campaign to get rid of the hapless Jimmy Adams from whatever capacity he serves in.
He is the only remaining 'constant'.
What is he, untouchable?
In reply to goliath
I agree with you to some extent but you need Hope and Bravo in the middle to play that 30 over game. My point is although we may not have scored many runs in that game we should have at least taken more wickets. So we need to offer up more bowlers to have a look at what they are doing?. Having bowlers who cannot contain batsmen is an issue. I do feel with the inclusion of Russell we will have what we need at the tail end to hit.
