When the CPL first began, one of the primary concern was the loss of inter-island rivalry that has a long and established history in West Indies cricket.
The CPL argued that franchise cricket is the future road and to their credit the big names were mostly placed in teams outside of their birth place.
Many observers, myself included were curious onlookers - we wanted to see how this was going to evolve. From my perspective, it appears fans have embraced their team even when playing against their countrymen.
It is why I am surprised that an unannounced and "unofficial plan is "to place" the various stars in their "home" team with a smaller number of "foreign" players making the final squad.
So we can see for example Narine, Bravo, Polly, Simmons, Lewis play for TKR, while Gayle, Russell play for Jamaica and Keemp, Rutherford, Hety play for Guyana and so on.
Is this a case of the CPL doing their homework and responding to the "needs of the market" or is it a shortsighted measure that can be detrimental to franchise cricket?

IS CPL MAKING A 360?
Who stole Emir's handle?
In reply to Emir
What do you mean by a 360? Right now they have a franchise system. If they do a 360 from there they will still have a franchise system

Emir is always in a spin, so he would be comfortable in quoting 360 degrees when when he actually means 180.
In reply to Emir
They are more looking at the bottom line.
In reply to Walco
360 of 180 people get confused between 360 and 180..
this will hurt st kitts patriots
In reply to navindesigns
If they are to do that you mean
But I don't see it happening like this, well not from where I'm at.

Oblivion Bolivion SAME TING!!!!!!
Emir got everybody in a spin! CPL going full circle, back to the beginning!
In reply to Walco
Thank you kindly for your input- your point is well taken and I can see how I may have confused some, but allow me to clarify: CPL seems to be reverting to when we had island or territory teams- before the advent of franchise system- so it appears we are going right back to our native roots- 360, albeit it with a sprinkle of "foreigners" to make it look like a true franchise.
In reply to Emir
But Emir, that's a 180 degree turn you just described. 360 is a full circle.
In reply to Drapsey
Maybe I am spinning too much Drapes, but I'll blame it on ole age For me 360 means going back to exactly where we started: Island vs Island prior to the advent of franchise cricket.
In reply to Emir
I anticipated your response and gave it come thought before my first post. But the problem with your reasoning is that before the CPL there were territorial teams, not franchise teams. The CPL is and always has been a franchise system. So even it it were possible for the CPL to go a territorial teams structure that would be a 180, not a 360.
Ow man, alyuh ease up. He did seh he is 90 or is it 95?
In reply to Kay
Emir is still sharp as a knife at 90 ...
In reply to Walco
butter knife?
In reply to Walco
Okay. But lets get past the level of degree, the pertinent point here is the apparent change of CPL paradigm- I am speculating but the evidence seems to suggest they are moving in that direction- not full blown territory teams but highly dominated by home boys.
We will get a clearer picture when the various squads are known.

You know I have a feeling Russell coming to the patriots
