Guyana .....Atlantic Train 1s future uncertain in T&T
AS it celebrates its 20th year in operation, there is uncertainty about the future of Atlantic LNG Train 1, which received a 20-year tax holiday when it began operations in 1999. Energy sources even suggesting that the liquefaction facility could be mothballed like the Petrotrin refinery and the ArcelorMittal iron and steel facility.
An Atlantic spokesman told the Express yesterday: There is uncertainty around the supply of natural gas to Train 1 after 2019, revealing that this was one of the messages that had been disclosed at a town-hall meeting hosted by the Point Fortin-based facility.

Infrastructure $$ used to fund Petrotrin lay-offs
FINANCE Minister Colm Imbert said yesterday that Government withdrew some $709 million from the countrys Infrastructure Development Fund (IDF) to assist in paying termination benefits to former Petrotrin employees.
The Parliaments Standing Finance Committee yesterday approved that the 2019 appropriation for the Finance Ministry be supplemented by $729,187,071.

Petrotrin makes $1.7B operating profit in last year of service
Petrotrin made $1.7 billion in operating profit in the last year of service.
State-owned Petrotrin made an operating profit of US$250.28 million or TT$1.67 billion during its last year in existence.
This was revealed in unaudited figures that the companys successor, Trinidad Petroleum Holdings Limited presented recently to investors.
As at the year ended September 30, 2018, the revenues for Petrotrin, stood at US$1,045.20 or TT$7.08 billion.
The companys Cost of Sales stood at US$195.45 million or TT$1.3 billion while Gross Profit US$849.75 million or TT$5.7 billion.
After the companys operating expenses of US$600.47 million or TT$4 billion was deducted the net operating profit stood at US$250.28 million or TT$1.7 billion.

$300m contract to Novo Technologies...
THE Governments decision to order a probe into the award of a $300-million contract by the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (AATT) to Novo Technologies Incorporated is not an indictment of Minister of Works Rohan Sinanan, who has portfolio responsibility for AATT.
So said Minister of National Security Stuart Young, as he responded to an urgent question from Oropouche East MP Dr Roodal Moonilal in the House of Representatives yesterday.
