Selectors No Longer Tour With Team Because It

costs too much money, but it's not a waste of money for the CWI Vice President to travel with the team??? smile Surely the team manager can do the ceremonial stuff in place of the VP if money is really the issue ...

If the VP is on tour what is he doing there, especially as you say, in light of the austerity measures?

He participated in the post match presentation ceremonies.

Thanks. I did not watch the post match ceremony. It must be out of pocket expenses. Otherwise, his trip needs to be justified.

I will reserve judgment for now, but these guys should practice what they preach.

Dr. Shallow, please respond.

I don't believe it was stated that no officials will travel with the team. The cost savings is one official vs 2 or 3 selectors.

Only one selector traveled with the team. They would rotate each series.

It wouldn't hurt if the austerity measures are enunciated.

I personally believe that selectors are excess to demand. The job should be done by the coaching staff.

Not an ureasonable position, but who would scout the regional players when the senior team is on tour? In any event, the current structure is not one where the coaches select the team.

Yes, this is why selectors are needed, or scouts. For example, if you get a foreign coach, chances are, he won't know about the upcoming talents. So much international cricket is played these days to have time to spot all in the region...

"In my opinion that is an awful lot of cricket for four selectors to be looking at and selecting. Under the interim arrangement we have put in place, we have now given the Head Coach and captain voting rights. Whether the Task Force agrees with this or not, we wait to see. Before the selectors were travelling to the matches. We have stopped that because it costs a significant amount of money. Now with the captain and coach having voting rights, we have stopped selectors from travelling."

Guardian Media Sports understands that the task force includes Shallow, Adams, Enoch Lewis, Jimmy Adams and three former West Indies cricketers.

It will be interesting to see what they come up with in terms of a new structure. Apparently Adams will have 2 votes smile

I think selectors and coaching staff should all attend Regional games.

The Chairman of Selectors should go on tours with the side.

Not possible when the senior team is touring
The Chairman of Selectors should go on tours with the side.

Why just the Chairman? Are the other selectors not important? What about A Team matches?

If the West Indies are touring the CoS goes with the team. The 3 selectors should attend the Regional matches.

The CoS is in that position for a reason, so he should go on tour. The other selectors have done there duty selecting the best squad they can.
