West Indies vs Bangladesh, ODI

mikesiva 2019-05-13 09:37:39

Bangladesh: 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Soumya Sarkar, 3 Shakib Al Hasan, 4 Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 5 Mohammad Mithun, 6 Mahmudullah, 7 Sabbir Rahman, 8 Mashrafe Mortaza, 9 Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 10 Abu Jayed (ODI debut), 11 Mustafizur Rahman

West Indies: 1 Shai Hope, 2 Sunil Ambris, 3 Darren Bravo, 4 Roston Chase, 5 Jonathan Carter, 6 Jason Hodler, 7 Fabian Allen, 8 Ashley Nurse, 9 Sheldon Cottrell, 10 Kemar Roach, 11 Raymon Reifer (ODI debut)

West Indies have won the toss and have elected to bat. They don't have Shannon Gabriel in their line-up today. In his place comes Raymon Reifer, the left-arm fast bowler and lower order batsman.

Cousin Floyd presented Raymon with his cap....

West Indies 29/0 after 4 overs. Ambris striking the ball well.

mikesiva 2019-05-13 10:13:11

In reply to cricketmad

Ambris out caught in the slips for 23, trying to run Mortaza down to third man.

Bravo in early. A chance for him to get some runs.

cricketmad 2019-05-13 10:15:56

In reply to mikesiva

He fell for the trap after narrowly avoiding it the previous delivery. He threw his wicket away when he was looking set for another big score.

Drapsey 2019-05-13 10:24:13

7.3 4 Mashrafe Mortaza to Bravo, FOUR runs, launches it down the ground! Outrageous shot from Bravo. Just plants his front leg down and because there's room on offer he just goes after the ball. That means a short ball has been slapped straight down the ground. Wicked!

Ok Bravo, shut those %$%$% up now.

mikesiva 2019-05-13 10:28:01

In reply to Drapsey

Darren tried to get out there...dolly dropped.
big grin

solidrock 2019-05-13 10:28:50

Bravo really looks out of touch. Please grow your confidence again.

Seechy 2019-05-13 10:29:19

In reply to solidrock

Bravo and Lewis are very rusty.

solidrock 2019-05-13 10:32:15

What are going to do with Bravo?

mikesiva 2019-05-13 10:32:21

Miraz strikes! Bravo out lbw for six...looked plumb.

Send him back to re-learn to bat.

TanteMerle 2019-05-13 10:57:15

Time for me to do something else

This bating is BOOOOOOOORRRRRIIIINNNGGG.

Facking Shai Poke.

Chase gave it away for 19...three down.

Really poor batting by Chase. That ball should have been hit straight.

Jonathan Carter.
I hope I never see him in West Indies Colours after this tour.

mikesiva 2019-05-13 11:23:17

In reply to Courtesy

Carter looked to be struggling here...out lbw to a ball that might just have been going down leg. Out for three from 14 balls.

solidrock 2019-05-13 11:24:28

Players like Carter are a poor reflection on West Indies cricket.

windies walk with ah lot of waste

out Lbw!! Second wicket of the match for the Fizz - he means business today. J Carter lbw b Mustafizur 3 lol

In reply to mikesiva

I think it was clipping. Initially I thought it was going down leg but it appeared to straighten.

But more importantly, Jonathan Carter never had anything to offer.

shivnotout 2019-05-13 11:28:00

In reply to Courtesy

out Lbw!! Second wicket of the match for the Fizz - he means business today. Carter was playing to play this one across the line but the ball keeps low and strikes him front of middle and leg. Replays confirm this might have just clipped the leg-stump but West Indies have lost their fourth wicket. They need a partnership to get out of this hole.
lol
wi 100-4

Man floating lollies to Jason now and saying "look you can hit this one." Granny batting from Jason.

Spin bowling for West Indies is like a cross put in front of a devil.

big grin

He has never, never impressed me. He simply cannot bat.

hotarobin 2019-05-13 11:40:26

Poor cricket by West Indies all around. Bangladesh isn't really doing anything special...

Courtesy 2019-05-13 11:41:48

In reply to hotarobin
This should have been a festival game for West Indies and we are making heavy weather of it.

Spin bowlers now making fun of Jason.

I said it on another thread that all teams should play all their spinners on the squad against West Indies and even bowl their part time spinners.

And not even a whisper from the men in charge of the team.

big grin

solidrock 2019-05-13 11:44:22

I remind my friends Bagla is playing a very strong eleven. We are playing a second eleven against them.

Shai gets his half-century.

That's why we need to temper our expectation. Memories of the last ODI World Cup are still vivid.

mikesiva 2019-05-13 12:04:09

In reply to solidrock

I half-agree with you....

Our bowling attack is the same, barring Thomas. That worries me....

Our batting includes Bravo, Shai and Holder, who are playing today. Bravo is struggling, while Shai is making runs, though his strike rate is still a concern for me. Two of the batsmen who do seem to be flourishing on this tour, Ambris and Campbell, won't be going to England.

It sounds like we're depending a bit too heavily on players who are not playing here, such as Gayle, Lewis, Hetmyer, Pooran, Carlos and Russell. When will they start getting used to these conditions?

West Indies 148-4 after 34 overs.

Finally, a six!

37.2

Mustafizur Rahman to Hope, SIX runs, there's the first of the game. Took em long enough! And it's a peach too. For half a second, it seems Hope is cramped up. As if he can't get a full swing of the bat through a ball on his hips. But he goes through with the pick-up shot and it lands well over the boundary at midwicket. Outstanding timing, really.

Cardiac 2019-05-13 12:21:57

In reply to mikesiva

I would drop Bravo like a hot potato. Hope is in some serious ODI form. Hopefully it carries over to the World Cup.

Seechy 2019-05-13 12:30:07

It's going to be very difficult for WI to remain in the World Cup. WI can find themself knocked out of the World Cup within the first 4 matches against very tough opposition (Pakistan, Australia, England, and SA).

Seechy 2019-05-13 12:30:52

In reply to Cardiac

Hope's form won't last. He didn't have a great series against England.

mikesiva 2019-05-13 12:37:19

In reply to Seechy

Holder gets his half-century off 67 balls....

The hundred partnership comes up.

Hope caught behind for 87 from 108.

StumpCam 2019-05-13 12:47:23

130 dot balls so far in the inning! Not encouraging! cry

Seechy 2019-05-13 12:47:57

In reply to StumpCam

Holder gone. This is a sh!t total.

mikesiva 2019-05-13 12:48:05

In reply to StumpCam

Holder out for 62 from 76...almost a replica of the Hope dismissal.

Allen out lbw for seven. Was that sliding down leg? Either way, Allen hasn't really shown us any reason why he deserves to be in the World Cup squad ahead of Campbell and Ambris.

Courtesy 2019-05-13 12:50:03

Unlucky mate. This was going down leg.

solidrock 2019-05-13 12:51:18

The way this is going we are going to be beaten easily by Bangla

Ruben 2019-05-13 12:54:22

There is no way that ball could have hit leg stump. Terrible umpiring

solidrock 2019-05-13 12:56:27

Please remind me why our 8 players missing here could not have left IPL 2-3 weeks ago? This is a rhetorical question?
evil

mikesiva 2019-05-13 12:59:52

In reply to solidrock

Or rather, why are they not here now? In fact, Carlos is already in Ireland. He was in the stands watching the match on Saturday. Since Carlos only played two or three matches in the IPL, why isn't he getting used to playing in Irish conditions, which are very similar to those in England?

Why are the IPL players not playing in some of these matches in Ireland now? The only batsmen getting batting practice in these conditions are Bravo, Hope and Holder. And it doesn't seem to be helping Bravo....

Lol...at least we qualify for the finals before them wink

So leh we call that a dead rubber

natty_forever 2019-05-13 14:10:17

Bowling 1 four ball an over here, seems we need to revisit the new ball pair.

solidrock 2019-05-13 14:21:34

Excellent opening pair for Bangla and Das sits in the wings to replace any of them as openers.

natty_forever 2019-05-13 14:23:35

In reply to solidrock … Roach making them look good.

natty_forever 2019-05-13 14:26:13

Cottrell to Tamim Iqbal, FOUR runs, bang. That's beautiful from Tamim. Half-volley outside off, and the front elbow is high and proud as he leans into this drive between cover point and extra-cover
servings healthy this morning.

solidrock 2019-05-13 14:31:01

What is Nurse to do as first change bowler? Change the big flow of runs or take a wicket?. That is sort of funny. big grin

solidrock 2019-05-13 14:33:36

He took a wicket. Wow!!!!!!!!!!

natty_forever 2019-05-13 14:34:14

In reply to solidrock crow eating time.

natty_forever 2019-05-13 14:37:32

Nurse to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, nicely flighted outside off, defended towards backward point

solidrock 2019-05-13 15:05:19

I know there are two left-handers batting. But, please explain why Chase is being used before Allen?

natty_forever 2019-05-13 15:07:17

In reply to solidrock captains decision?

natty_forever 2019-05-13 15:10:12

Instead of 3wkts down

Nurse to Soumya Sarkar, 1 run, dropped as steps out and hoicks it to midwicket. Roach is inside the circle, and it comes straight to him, and pops straight out

solidrock 2019-05-13 15:10:39

I know Bagla should win, but so easily? Truth be told Bangla can chase most team scores unless they are facing minimum 325.

solidrock 2019-05-13 15:15:49

Congrats to Nurse he has taken three.

natty_forever 2019-05-13 15:15:50

Thought you guys said we had no spinners? big grin big grin big grin

It grips. it turns.

natty_forever 2019-05-13 15:24:02

If we can get our fielding back up to the England series level, we will hold our own in this WC.

natty_forever 2019-05-13 15:28:15

Point:

Allen to Mohammad Mithun, no run, Mithun should have been run out

All Nurse has to do is lob the ball to the keeper... and he messes it up, sending it way over the keeper

the man you should have ran out:
Nurse to Mohammad Mithun, SIX runs,

natty_forever 2019-05-13 15:38:45

Bowling of the pacers leaves a lot to be desired

Holder to Mushfiqur Rahim, FOUR runs, strays on the pads and Mushfiqur deflects it away to the long leg boundary. Cricket 101

natty_forever 2019-05-13 15:43:42

Holder to Mohammad Mithun, FOUR runs, poor bowling again from West Indies. The captain now straying onto the pads with fine leg up. What do you think happened next?

natty_forever 2019-05-13 15:48:48

This might be where the game's been won: Bangladesh against spin - Seven fours and two sixes; West Indies - three fours and no sixes
True or False?

natty_forever 2019-05-13 15:53:44

Arjun: "Fabian Allen has 27 first class wickets in 41 outings across the three formats including just one 4 wicket haul. Has not taken a single wicket in 5 ODls and done nothing with the bat either. Wonder why they keep an apparently blind faith in his abilities!"

natty_forever 2019-05-13 16:00:48

Reifer to Mohammad Mithun, FOUR runs, dropped... essentially because Roach misjudges a simple catch at deep square leg.
Seems Roach would rather be somewhere else.

natty_forever 2019-05-13 16:03:21

IMHO Bang should be 20 runs less for 6 wkts.

natty_forever 2019-05-13 16:04:15

"The comment related to Blind Faith in Fabian Allen is well put. Kavem Hodge of the Windward, Cornwall from the Leewards and Rutherford of Guyana are all better options...much better options. Their respective records, past and current reflect that.
True or False?

solidrock 2019-05-13 16:18:53

Wicket. Well bowed Holder.

natty_forever 2019-05-13 16:21:59

Bang's RR has not gone below 5. Need more wickets.

granite 2019-05-13 16:26:38

Come on lads we can turn this around ,it's not a joke. lol lol lol

doublecentury 2019-05-13 16:34:14

Missed runout several dropped catches ...last one by the keeper...Hope is a batsman

natty_forever 2019-05-13 16:34:51

Holder to Mahmudullah, 1 run, dropped. Fullish, fifth-stump line. Presses forward to defend and he plays with a slightly open face. Ends up edging it to the right of the keeper, and Hope throws himself across for the low chance, stretches out one glove, and can't hold on in the end

natty_forever 2019-05-13 16:42:02

Holder to Mahmudullah, SIX runs, down the track, and Mahmudullah has hoisted that onto the rooftops. Swings freely through a big drive that ends up clearing the wide long-on boundary by a long, long way

solidrock 2019-05-13 16:52:38

Let Bangla fight for every run.

solidrock 2019-05-13 17:09:29
