1. I have been keeping quiet about Allen. He is a brilliant fielder and a half decent bowler. Nothing much to his batting. What makes him of more value than Jimbo in ODI?
2. Please tell me which batsman at WC will get out to the off-spin of Nurse? He will always be 50-60 or more runs given off his type of bowling. What makes him of more value than Jimbo?
3. The only finisher we have is Russell. I see Holder as properly finishing once in a "blue moon." Rusell will not make runs finishing every match. In fact, Russell may not be physically strong enough to play every match and be the finisher. Remind me why we do not have a fearless Jimbo playing who can finish successfully 1 every two matches. Is it, Brathwaite we are depending to finish if Russel fails or cannot play?
4. If General Cotteral and Roach do not come good who is a wicket-taker for us? One or two matches Holder may take three. Why do we not have our # 1 wicket-taker in Jimbo bowling also? Sure he might get hit around in 1-2 matches, but 6-7 matches he would be dynamite!
5. Which of our batsmen will get us past 325 regularly?

Don't really understand the size factor either because Nurse is useless in the field, can't bowl and just swipes. In which case Jimbo us far superior in all aspects of the game. How could you be so blind to select Nurse or any other spinner over him. His batting alone should have sold this. Nurse is a waste!
In a Worldcup with a lot of games in a short space of time he will not be able to withstand the demands placed on him
He must focus on his fitness and come again!

Does he have to play in each and every match? Don't they have management on the team to supervise and game plan? So they would let his size rob them putting the best players on the pitch.
In reply to seaegg99
No player should be selected if he is not fit to play in every single match from the get go

Which player in our first-class cricket plays 4-day cricket more regularly for 10 weeks straight. You every hear Jimbo not playing due to injury (I think this has only happened once in the past 5 years).
You really believe that the WC Jimbo cannot play regularly roughly once a week for 9 weeks. Come on man????????????????
The ball was placed in Jimbo's court.
He did not do his part

You don't think teams in all sports take specialist for different game situations. Team like India, PAK and that area I would absolutely play Cornwall because his height and bounce as a spinner gives him more of a chance than Nurse. Most of the better batsmen from that area are smaller and keeping the ball down will be a problem. Nurse and Allen provides what again?
NOBODY IN WEST INDIES FC SET UP IS A BETTER ALL ALLROUNDER THAN JIMBO? Does anybody disagree?
I am not speaking about Holder at the test level. They fear to give Jimbo the chance to rival. Does anybody disagree?

It is fairly obvious that Holder does not want Allen. So why was he picked. Last game he was hardly bowled. Today, so far he has bowled 3 overs for 11 runs. And that is it.
This is not right.
Holder is ensuring that his fat, homeboy must play.
In reply to bobby
You maybe unto something there in truth. Perhaps if Jayson had given him a few more overs, he might very well have done the unthinkable and take a wicket.

In reply to NYCGURU Well Nurse did so anything is possible

Holder is an asshole....reminds me of how he treated Bishoo and Rovman Powell.
In reply to Nyabinghi
Question is why is he doing it so blatantly? And why is he being allowed to do it? This is not good for our cricket. I have just written Jason Holder off. He comes across so sweet but the real and insular Jason Holder has appeared. Anything to ensure that his homeboy has no competition for a place on the team. West Indies advantage will never, ever end.

Allen was the third bowler used against Ireland. He bowled 3 overs in that game. Nurse bowled 4 overs and Chase bowled one in the same game. Bangladesh has left handed openers and their number 3 was also a lefty. Obviously Holder preferred to use slow bowlers today against batsmen where the ball would be turning away. Where you saw insularity I saw a sound strategy.
But fear not Bobby ... your boy Allen will be in the WC squad
In reply to Walco
Don't try to justify injustice. Allen is not my boy. I am a West Indian to the bone with not an ounce of insularity. I grew up supporting the West Indies team and I did not care where they came from. Viv Richards, Brian Lara, Garry Sobers, Conrad Hunte, Rohan Kanhai, Roy Fredericks, Michael Holding, Andy Roberts, Wes Hall were some of the players I loved. They are West Indian.

I am not sure what you mean by #1 wicket taking bowler..but I am very impressed with Cornwall clean hitting
3 overs and only eleven runs, that is a good economy rate even in Test cricket. Why wasn't he given more overs is good puzzle, but Allen could also bat, he just have not had a good innings at the International level yet.
In reply to bobby
I try to explain the thinking behind how Allen was used and I am trying to justify injustice? Apparently Holder is the only captain in world cricket who prefers to bowl off spinners against lefties. The insularity and homeboyism involved in such a strategy is self evident. There this great saying about opinions. Everybody has one or two or more 😎 And they dont have to be right either.
In reply to Walco
So if you are not justifying Holder's insularity, you are saying he does not have a clue. He should be replaced forthwith as Captain.
In reply to bobby
I gave you an explanation for Holders captaincy today that would not implicate insularity or cluelessness if true. You apparently can read his mind, so carry-on.
In reply to Walco
I am no Allen fan but if he bowled 3 overs for 11 runs then he should have continued.
In reply to Dukes
I agree that Allen should have bowled more in the last match. But I would not jump to the conclusion that his underuse was the result of insularity when there is a simple non-insular strategic explanation.
Roach had figures of 7 overs for 30 runs in our first loss to Bangladesh and I thought he should have bowled 10 overs in that match.
