Russell and Gayle were out of IPL probably a week ago...I thought that they would be filing into the team by now.
Second string players should play in an A team tour, not in a Tri-Nation series just before the WC.
Even if they were to win the final how does it help towards their WC bid?

there was no such intention. Giving exposure to a wider pool of players.
