The England batting is scary.
In fact, I have zero expectation of us doing well.

Fellas , let's temper our expectation for this WC
In reply to Courtesy
in home conditions and on lifeless pitches yes
In reply to Courtesy
It's the same scary lot that played in the Caribbean. Ok ok I temper my expectations.
In reply to Jumpstart
Every short ball disappears.
In reply to InHindsight
Good pitches mate...good pitches.
In reply to Courtesy
Maybe .....but certainly not sporting. We saw how they struggled badly in St Lucia and under lights in barbados. In fact they would have lost the first match if 5 catches weren't dropped.
In reply to Courtesy
Thank goodness for Gayle, Lewis, and Russell. Hetty ain't far behind.
Hope bats through.
In reply to InHindsight
I suppose so. But if we are facing a huge total Hope just cannot bat through.
But yes, we have the artillery...the problem is how often it will fire and if they fire, can our bowlers contain?
Finally Roy goes for 76.
In reply to Courtesy
Um Gayle showing some consistency in his twlight.
I'm concerned for Lewis and Hetty.
In reply to Courtesy
So you have to bowl wide of off to Bairstow?!
In reply to InHindsight
and full as the umpire permits.
Our bowlers have not been able to execute this against Bangladesh.
In reply to Courtesy
My call
we may end up being in 6th place.
Hoping.
In reply to Courtesy
Cool
I will not put it on our bowlers. Consider the slow low batting racks in Ireland.
We are not giving Bangladesh the respect they deserve. It's the our batting that hasn't challenged the Banglas, so bowlers have not been able to put them under pressure.
In reply to sgtdjones
Sixth place in the preliminary round will be an excellent result.

358/9 after 50.
Pakistan winning dis one
In reply to RemainsUnknown
Man, seriously...The way that pitch was playing I knew 358 was not enough for this English batting...
In reply to RemainsUnknown
With this kid emotionalism trumps everything.
In reply to RemainsUnknown
In reply to Courtesy WI & the Paks are unpredictable...suh watch it!
I wonder who will open our batting....Hope like to rotate the strike, Gayle doesn't...both are valuable in their own right...how do we fix that?
In reply to hotarobin
Gayle try to run a bit more, Hope try to run a bit less.
In reply to hotarobin
Why can't Gayle (and Russel) come in the last 20-25 overs???
Truth is , I would like to see Gayle & Russel at the crease together.
Hope & Lewis to open
In reply to Discourse
Ummm
Yo haven't gone coo coo have you
In reply to InHindsight
Just a thought
In reply to InHindsight
In reply to Discourse not a bad thought.
In reply to Courtesy
we don't have bowling.
In reply to jcveletta
....but we are not much worse than the other teams.
PAK and England are also making similar scores in their ODI series. I don't believe any team has been bowled out in either tournament.
So it would seem, based on these results, that the West Indies has to be prepared to score 370 - 400 on average each game to be competitive.

Rumshop
Imagine Gayle who batted his entire career as opener and at his swansong you throw something totally new at him ,at a critical time thereby losing all he gives by opening.
Russell could come at the death buy not too late.
In reply to InHindsight … that would be so if he was a Rookie. Russell bats as the situation dictates.
In reply to InHindsight
CHG is a professional and yes Natty, he sure ain't no rookie.
In reply to InHindsight
Hetty not far behind and you got Lewis in the top 3?
ODI's
Lewis averages 32 after 35 matches with a SR of 82 - 2 x 100's 3 x 50's
Hetty averages 40 after 25 matches with a SR of 110 - 4 x 100's 2 x 50's
looking at the all-round stats in the tournament, the batting against Bang was the problem, our bowlers had an economy. rate of less than 6 rpo.

I was not expecting the West Indies to beat Bangladesh nor am I expecting them to make it out of the group stage in this WC. We have been a woeful ODI team for the last 20 years....
Fellas, this is just a gentle reminder as the WC gets nearer.
Btw, whappen today?
I hope our fellas are picking at the right time.
Picking up bowlers and sending them over de boundary.
In reply to tops
I have low expectations, but not as low as that.
