10am Just fifteen minutes to go for the toss, but there's a bit of weather around in Malahide today. Cloudy skies, temperatures of 11 degrees, with a fairly high chance of rain in about an hour. Win toss, bat second then?
10.17am Bangladesh opt to field, says Mashrafe Mortaza. But no Shakib, still recovering from a back spasm.
Bangladesh XI: 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Soumya Sarkar, 3 Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), 4 Mohammad Mithun, 5 Mahmudullah, 6, Mossaddek Hussain, 7 Sabbir Rahman, 8 Mohammed Saifuddin, 9 Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 10 Mashrafe Mortaza (capt), 11 Mustafizur Rahman
West Indies XI: 1 Sunil Ambris, 2 Shai Hope (wk), 3 Darren Bravo, 4 Roston Chase, 5 Jonathan Carter, 6 Jason Holder (capt), 7 Fabian Allen, 8 Ashley Nurse, 9 Kemar Roach, 10 Ramon Reiffer, 11 Shannon Gabriel
Cottrell out, Gabriel in....
Campbell's back strain must be serious.

Tri-series final: West Indies vs Bangladesh
In reply to mikesiva
Let's go, Bajans!
Shai Hope in taking his sheet anchor role literally and Ambris has missed 3 short balls he could have spanked for four. We have missed out so far.
In reply to Courtesy
Not good
In reply to mikesiva
It's 5:00 am here in Ja. Am I sleepy or is Hope lulling me to sleep with 1 run after facing 8 balls?
There are more trees around this ground than there appear to be spectators.
In reply to Discourse
Enough overs left to make up for it but it is an opportunity cost. We need to leave as few runs as possible out there.
That fielding effort looked like match fixing
In reply to DIEHARD
"You can bet the first ball that comes to me will go for 4."
Nah...we're harsh on the young man.
In reply to Courtesy
It was just so so poor, almost like he parried it into the boundary
In reply to Courtesy
Not a bad start, all things considered....
West Indies 69-0 after 12 overs.
Hope 32* (31)
Ambris 36* (41)
In reply to mikesiva
The concern now is the number 3 batsman. Will he eat up balls in an attempt to catch form?
This is a very poor batting line up for modern day ODI.
Those two last balls to Ambris should have gone out of the park.
We are leaving a lot out there at the moment.
Great shot by Hope four 4. Nice use of the top hand.
In reply to Headley
He heard you!
Hope's half-century at a run-a-ball....
In reply to mikesiva
Oh shikes! Did Hope just hit a 6 to get to his fifty and bring up the WI 100? Now I must be wide awake.
Excellent batting.
Another wonderful 50 by Hope. Keep going strong.
Good 50 Ambris. Congrats.
In reply to mikesiva
Ambris takes a well made 50 with plenty strike rotation.
Well done ambris and hope
666666666.....hope
Rain delay
In reply to Discourse
Rain was expected today....
West Indies 131-0 after 20 overs.
Hope 68* (56)
Ambris 59* (65)
In reply to mikesiva
Yep
Cricket Ireland just confirmed that Bangladesh will lift the trophy if there is no further play.
In reply to Discourse
That's very stupid. They should just call it a league then...
What will be Bangladesh's target if only 20 overs are possible now?
In reply to anup you have to ask D.W Lewis
In reply to hotarobin
Anyway we're losing overs now and there seems to be some play in sight
In reply to anup
203
Guess what it wud be if we were 185 for 4
In reply to Maispwi
203
203 in 20 seems a fair score for Bangla to chase down.....
In reply to Discourse
187 according to DLS
In reply to Maispwi
Yeah got it
Itmt....the rain is back
Still some very slight rain here, not sure we will see play as both teams might want to protect their players just before the WC
Little bit of sun coming through now
4.05pm Seems like the covers are coming off.
Inspection now at 4.40pm
Starting at 5.30. 24 over game
So wrong
Adv Bangla
In reply to Runs
Dey will have to score over 200 to win and at close to 10 runs per over even if WI can only score 30 runs in the 3.5 overs dey have to bat
In reply to Maispwi
ok ty better
In reply to natty_forever
Play resumes 24 overs each.
Shai Hope out for 74 from 64 balls.
Hope OUT. That should adjust the equation?
210 to win in 24 overs.
That is easier than 210 in 20 overs at 8.75 runs per over.
Bangladesh should be able to chase that down. It all depends on the start.
In reply to embsallie
West indies 152-1
Ambris 69 not out from 78
Bravo three not out
In reply to embsallie
That is easier than 210 in 20 overs
Wow! Thanks for this information
In reply to JOJO
Yeah, this D/L is something at times. Sounds stupid right?
In reply to JOJO
Don't roll your eyes.
You know how some peeps on this board too lazy to do the math.
In reply to JOJO
Holder decision to open with Nurse backfired.
Nurse dropped a dolly! This man is a liability.
In reply to mikesiva
What are these selectors seeing. Must be missing something
We have plans to lose this they we are going! Rain and DL helped us as much as they could. What I am seeing gives a sick feeling.
In reply to Discourse
Holder shows Nurse how it's done. Gabriel strikes and Tamim is out for 18 from 13.
Gabriel again! Shabbir out lbw for a duck!
1
Holder to Mushfiqur Rahim, 1 run, back of a length on middle and leg, tucked away to fine leg
6.5
0
Holder to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, shortish on middle stump, a bit of extra bounce, drops the bottom hand while defending back towards the bowler
6.4
1
Holder to Soumya Sarkar, 1 run, back of a length, angling away from off stump, steered down to third man
6.3
0
Holder to Soumya Sarkar, no run, length ball angling away from off stump, big slash and miss with an angled bat
6.2
4
Holder to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR runs, fullish on off stump, and Soumya kind of outsmarts himself by taking a big, premeditated step back into his crease. Gets a touch too far underneath the ball in the attempt to hit over mid-off, so he doesn't quite get the desired power on it, but it doesn't matter. Clears the fielder and rolls down to the boundary
6.1
4
Holder to Soumya Sarkar, FOUR runs, overpitched, lots of width, and even though cover point is out on the boundary there's no stopping this drive, timed so sweetly into the gap to the left of the fielder
I seeing a trend.
In reply to natty_forever
Pitch up the damn ball!
Sarkar brings up his half century off just 27 balls.
In reply to mikesiva
What ever happen to bowling Yorkers, or changing the angle?
In reply to openning coach?
How can we lose so easily?
In reply to natty_forever
All three fast bowlers continue to bowl over the wicket, to left handers.
In reply to openning
where is Pyman, seems to have worked out a strategy.
In reply to natty_forever
Reifer showing the seamers how it's done.
With that first over.
Strikes with his second. Sarkar out for 66 from 41.
Reifer trapped Rahim lbw for 36 from 22.
Allen strikes, and Mithun out lbw for 17!
In reply to mikesiva
5 DOWN... surely the game is in the balance or has tilted the wondies way now...
In reply to RemainsUnknown
Irish commentators observed that the west indies fielding has been indifferent, and that Cottrell is our best fielder.
Why are they bowling short on these pitches?
In reply to mikesiva
Absolute rubbish bowling. So many hit me balls.
Roach for all his experience is not suited for this format.
A strange game. Really strange.
The batting...the bowling strategy. Just strange.
That was a good arsh-whipping
Bangla wins their FIRST EVER ODI Tournament.
WI turn the corner yet?
In reply to runout
yes, we making finals.
Bunch of jokers.. captain and the bowling unit to be specific.
Now that this series is over, the players that made the cut are:
Hope
Ambro
Campbell
Apart from Cottrell, Roach, Holder and Roach, were not up to the task.
Sounds like Windies need to get into a quickfire bowling and fielding boot camp before the World Cup commences
In reply to openning I think neither were the 2 Roaches.
Ambris who.. Campbell is good but ambris have a long way to go.. batting too slow on flat tracks and don't have the power or skills to accelerate his innings...we need someone who can do that for wc
Bangladesh show us our batting is test cricket batting.
