Campbell by a country mile for ODI.

Ambris.

But why not both?

At least 2 vacancies in the batting..maybe 3..Hope and Hetmyer are the only two certainties for me after Gayle retires

Yep both.

Remember Ambris is a make shift opener here

Why you keep calling Ambris a makeshift opener? Ambris only reinvented himself as a middle order batsman because de Windwards didn want to break up dere opening pair of Devon and Theophile. He played on de WI U19 Team as an opener

Is Campbell still with the team?

Yes

Campbell to open and Ambris in the middle.

Ambris is a good option to have when Gayle leaves, since the Caribbean have a shortage of openers at the moment

Not quite true, Ambris was always a specialist middle order batsman for vincy u15/Vincy U19/vincy senior team then moved on to the same for Windwards U19/senior team. Windies U19 used him as an opener. Seeing that was high profile cricket, people got the impression that he was a specialist opener and didn't know regionally and at home, he was a middle order bat.

He's a middle order bat who can open if needed.

Keep both. Campbell is a better player of pace and Ambris is a better player of spin. Gayle will be gone after this WC and who knows when Lewis will make himself available for WI duties ...

If you can bat you can bat anywhere

From what I remember of Ambris's first international matches , he was fallible to genuine pace ? ( genuine question )

If so , he has not been tested with genuine pace during this series so I am not sure if he has worked that out enough to be considered at the top of the order.

That being said , I have time for Ambris in my middle order, he is a busy bee , keeps to strike rate up.

Both should play. Campbell to open with Gayle and Ambris to replace Bravo in the middle

They both should be in any ODI squad going fwd. Campbell as an opener, and Ambris in the middle order.
