Is floyd the right guy?

our performances have seen a marked drop in results since he took over. The coaching position is the only thing directly related to the team which has changed

The right West Indies coach is like saying one is happily married.

lol lol lol

I say give him the current English team to coach and we will then see how bad he is. Sometimes you wonder.

Reifer just holding the fort for Phil. Cant take any blame or credit.

But was piece of madness to upset the management structure just before world cup. Politics again getting ahead of the cricket

well the current english team was brought from its nadir of 2015 by bayliss. Floyd has taken a team that was drew a series with the #1 odi team in the world and has led us to 3 straight defeats against bangladesh and today's loss. The drop in performance of the pacers has been particularly alarming

What has changed? Conditions including pitches and spinners

The reality is Floyd has taken over a number 8 team and it's currently at number 8.

It's like the stock market not having gained or lost over yesterday's figures. You have lost absolutely nothing.

A number 8 ranked team will have the odd good day but will never be consistently good.

When we can argue that the coach of India or England would have beaten Bangladesh consistently with this West Indies team over the last week and Australia today, then the Reifer argument will be valid.

you're right........but this squad has been consistently bad.

The above has negated totally your argument. A team that has been bad consistently doesn't wake up tomorrow as a world beater.

But we did, seems we gaan back to sleep.

Exactly......worthless as a cricketer and sure looks like he's the same as a coach

With so many uncompetitive losses lately a person have to question how Reifer is preparing the team.

You got your mind made up. Valid arguments have been thrown at you, you acknowledged one and ignored the other and went straight back to your narrative...

InHindsight 2019-05-23 01:57:45

We cannot attribute the recent losses to Reifer with any certainty. Too many variables since the 2-2 draw with England.

However too much tinkering leading into the WC

sunfish 2019-05-23 02:32:17

The newly elected management team in their euphoric victory lap, changed a winning coaching team that was endorsed by the players. Two months before the world cup!

Not much critical thinking from the new management and we deserve to lose because of it..

I did not see the Bangladesh games as uncompetitive. The pace attack was almost full strength with the exception of oshane Thomas who was in the IPL. And they were hammered by the Bangladeshis. This is the same attack that post england series, Alan donald, one of the greatest pacers of all time, said was the attack to watch out for. They have now not been able to out the #7 team three times in a row. That to me is exceptionally disturbing especially as we are supposed to be in relatively good times for bowlers despite the benign nature of the pitches

Totally agreed

The games were uncompetitive in the sense that the WI lost by a large margin, just like how they lost by a large margin yesterday to Australia, as you could see, consistently losing by over a hundred runs or by over five wickets, means that the WI are uncompetitive.

Exactly..........we are back to the odi performances of the india tour

WIForever 2019-05-23 14:16:32

Not having a plan in the games against Bangladesh recently says a whole lot. Reifer is not accustomed to the multi-dimensional demands of top tier cricket.
He may learn along the way but throwing him into a world cup is not the best way to go about it, for all concerned.

I was saying the same thing 4 weeks ago when reifer's appointment was announced. Unfortunately for some on this thread, tribalism trumps logic.
