The management of CWI are spineless

FuzzyWuzzy 2019-06-17 20:07:20

South Africa sent home Steyn because he was injured.

Afghanistan sent home Shehzad.

West indies wilfully select a known unfit Russell and then continued to play him.

Excuses, excuses, excuses...

is he that bad tho? if he rest a couple of games you can still get him for a the last 2 or 3?

I don't need excuses I saw the light decades ago

If I may ask, What is your relation to Russell? Are you a Russell defender??

FuzzyWuzzy 2019-06-17 20:13:42

In reply to doosra

Look they picked him in the Caribbean and he could not play 1 game.

He went to ipl and was unfit all through that. Evertime he hit a six he had to get attention to his wrist.

He couldn't get through 2 overs on a trot.

gvenkat 2019-06-17 20:15:06

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

And IPL he could be masked. Its just 4 overs and a few overs slogging of club bowlers. When he faced real quality bowlers, he came undone.

doosra 2019-06-17 20:15:09

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

ok he should come home and rest for cpl then

doosra 2019-06-17 20:15:37

In reply to gvenkat

he would not score against top quality quicks who keep it more in their half than his

WI fans were thrilled at the prospect of Superman delivering, wounded knees or not. Why de sudden change of heart?

gvenkat 2019-06-17 20:17:49

In reply to doosra

Yep. In general West Indian batsmen don't assess the situation and use their head. The Australia game was there for the taking. Even when Russell got out. But Holder and Carlos had to go after the best bowler.. That's what I call lack of situational awareness.

Look at them making some massive changes against India and Getting licks. lol lol lol

doosra 2019-06-17 20:19:03

In reply to gvenkat

situational awareness indeed

example again today...when hope and hety were going...fizz comes back ...they should just block he out and war with the others

Apart from today, can you point to which other WC innings where he was "undone"?

gvenkat 2019-06-17 20:23:01

In reply to doosra

And in hindsight, That hetmeyer dismissal was the difference between WI scoring 360 and ending up at 321. lol

gvenkat 2019-06-17 20:23:16

In reply to Sangfroid

What about Australia and England.

doosra 2019-06-17 20:24:08

Russell didn't bring anything after

Hety was not going to bat those overs...he should become a bit more selfish then? big grin

Are you kidding us?

Sangfroid 2019-06-17 20:24:49

In reply to gvenkat

We must have two different understanding of what undone means...Russell gave his wicket away in both of those games; unforced errors.

gvenkat 2019-06-17 20:25:33

In reply to Sangfroid

No that's what I call it mentally undone. Stupidity. lol

Wonder who should have replaced Russell?

FuzzyWuzzy 2019-06-17 20:51:39

In reply to imusic

Bravo and Pollard

doosra 2019-06-17 20:51:50

In reply to imusic

Bravo if you are looking for both runs and wickets and some leadership

Paul if you want more bowling

Pollard do not have the bowling but if you want batting he can, with the possibility of turn his hand over

Sangfroid 2019-06-17 20:51:53

In reply to imusic

Carlos, Fabien, maybe? rolleyes

Russel is more hype than substance – so if we have to wonder who would replace him then we are in worse shape than i would have thought.

Sangfroid 2019-06-17 20:55:47

In reply to doosra

If we can agree that a half-fit Russell has done better than all of the so-called bowlers thus far except for Thomas, then why replace him with Bravo and Pollard? Why not swap Carlos and Cottrell for these two? rolleyes

Also, none of those mentioned here has a better ODI record than Russell. None.

FuzzyWuzzy 2019-06-17 21:19:12

Silly Billy factor in we are talking about a severely injured Russell

Sangfroid 2019-06-17 21:21:47

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

Like you slow upstairs...in spite of his handicap, he has done better than most. What so hard fuh u undastan? Results na matta?

imusic 2019-06-17 22:10:45

In reply to Sangfroid

It would have to be Carlos

Fabian would be interesting but I would pick him ahead of Gabriel. Carlos is a straight swap for Russell.

FuzzyWuzzy 2019-06-17 22:27:22

In reply to Sangfroid

You are trying hard. But how would you or anybody know if roach nurse Carlos or Fabian would've taken a five fer today? Nobody knows so that argument that he played an get one out of 3 is nonsense.

Despite oshanes wickets cottrell was the best bowler today and all tournament.

Drapsey 2019-06-17 22:31:40

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

And it took the perennially unfit Russel to break the Bangla opening partnership.

If it weren't for him, who knows, the score might've been 322 without loss.

A side question here, Fuzzy. Can you put forward a reasoning for Holder to open the bowling while Thomas and Gabriel are fit and available on the field?

Sure, he was the most economical of all the bowlers, but with 321 on the board, why wouldn't he go for the kill (if I may say that)?

Narper 2019-06-17 22:33:06

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
In the IPL it was clear that Russell was not fit....and that was T20 cricket...there was always a question whether he would be fit for the 50 overs world cup

I would always pick a fit Russell....but he is rarely fit these days....even after a year long lay off when he was banned for missing the drug tests

How fit are Roach and Gabriel???

ALSO....are they ever fully fit? How many tours now have they gone on unfit?

What is the CWI method of assessing fitness????

The excitement of ALL....locals and foreigners ....the PRONG threat to all teams have dissipated to an embarrassing level....we are already the laughing stock at this World Cup....the Pakistan aberration of total surrender is now a distant memory.

Chris Gayle has been a big let down too.

You should have been accustomed to this from Gayle at big tournaments. Maybe he'll blow away Afghanistan and we will all hail the uniboss

sudden 2019-06-17 22:40:05

In reply to Drapsey

given how they bowled had they opened the bowling maybe the score would have been 100 -0 in 6 overs

Drapsey 2019-06-17 22:52:44

Could very well be, however, that's what allowed them to crush the Paks, so why not use that same methodology against their brothers?

This JHo guy is the total opposite of Captain $ammy who used to hide himself from frontline batsmen.

Andre Russel has to be in the final 11.

How else could he, in his own words "help them win a World Cup."

lol lol lol

Guess what? Oshane din open de bowling against Pakistan and he has taken 5 wickets in 2 innings where he din open de bowling and 2 in two innings where he did. So maybe, just maybe he bowls better with a slightly older ball

you mean clueless. You have fully fit polly and big Bravo home waiting to get a go.
