BANGLA CAPPO CITES ANDY ROBERTS-HIS HERO...

Emir 2019-06-19 22:09:39

Mashrafe Mortaza had been struggling for wickets in the first three matches of the World Cup when he got a surprise call from one of his heroes, Andy Roberts

We used to talk at times. But he recently took my number from Courtney Walsh to get in touch with me. He told me that everything is fine. Everyone has a phase. He told me to concentrate. It is the same thing that he told me all those years ago. His message was simple. I was definitely surprised. He is getting old, but he is still following cricket. He still calls me by my nickname 'Koushik'."

Yet, our board still cannot find the courage to allow our 1980's legends-the greatest the world has known, to mentor our youngsters.

What a bloody shame.

The stars of yesteryear will show up the mediocre selectors and administrators.
That is what they are afraid of.
You tell any Indian or Asian person you are from West Indies and immediately they start rattling off names like Viv, Lara,Holding, Lloyd etc.
I am sure if there is a quiz in the Caribbean on WI cricket history the majority of people asked will fail to name HALF the WI side of the 80's
We never treat our own as heroes.
We only criticize and tarnish good reputations.
