Guyanese in Florida...

Anytime I meet a Guyanese the first thing they ask is whether I eat Manicou and Iguana,yes I answer and it brings out laughter.They even go further,"we nah eat dah kyna shit in Guyana".I take it for granted but many friends I know in Florida say that Guyanese is eating dong all the Iguanas in Florida.Tell meh ah lie.

I don't know about Guyanese in Florida but plenty Guyanese in Guyana eat Iguana.. its common almost all over you go people selling Iguana..

Manicou on the other hand.. yet to come across a Guyanese who eat that

Not sure about Iguznas, but ducks, plentiful and found on almost all the man made water-ways and cultivated to feed on mosquitoes, were caught and promptly curried by Guyanese and Trinis alike

I was also told of the cascadura fish- they call it "hasa." I was told it was attempted farmed and some escaped which posed a threat to native species.

I don't eat guana every Saturday, but I ate quite a few, growing up in the Kuntry. And, I did not purchase them. lol

In school and at home they everywhere ! Wifey always want to keep one to cook but I don't encourage that...don't eat them either,my wild meat is Agouti,lappe,hog and dear..and that's it..

Lappe and agouti curry-stew is amazing..

That boy should have plenty gal running after him soon.BTW I ate all those wild meat you have put in your post,my father loved hunting and regularly went to Moruga forests,I had deer,lappe,wild pig,manicou,iguana,agouti.You didn't mention birds,I also had mountain dove and other birds.The big problem was,my mother would not cook iguana,my father had to go to the neighbour,I always remember her name Hilda,she would cook it.

I see a padnuh tek off he boots lace and chase one a dem bush-motobike (salipenter/salamander). He later told me that the skin got that nice gummy taste that gillbacker skin got.
Never tried it.

Nah I don’t really know much peeps used to go up there to spend August hols with grandparents, not CG but Scheme. My parents will, my mom taught there in her younger years before I.
Had lots of rice and farmlands which I enjoyed.

My father used to plant cassava in Scheme back dam.

Do you remember they had that clear water trench back there? You could see the fishes clear as daylight.

I caught many a fish in those trenches,still know the spots used to fish that trench all the way to “water path middlewalk” across were savannas. Is your father “Fishy”?

Ok, I was a force riped youth hung with the big boys and went on tractor rides throughout that area, from Mahaicony to Unity by Shiv them to CG razz
Older fellas still remember precocious me, I have a bit of a rep lol

I organize fishing expeditions up the Mahaica and 20/20 games with the youths when I visit. Have not been back in a few years, due a trip
