Bermuda at the Gold Cup
good for Bermuda, sure this tournament will be remembered in their nation football history

I recall (correctly I hope) that the first black player to star in the English Premier League (First Division it was called then) was a Bermudian named Best.
How about Haiti? They beat Costa Rica 2-1 and looked very good in the second half, not bad for a very poor country with no international star player.

Clyde Best - West Ham United - 1968- 1976

Dude !Haiti was a Caribbean powerhouse sometime back, always have decent players playing in Europe.
there was another guy from Bermuda not so long ago playing in England ,just before the league was renamed?

Shaun Goater of Man City, perhaps? They had a Feed the Goat chant for him. I think he's considered a City legend after scoring a few times against Man Utd. Kyle Lightbourne, current national coach, managed to play in the top flight before Goater, I think it was with Coventry. Nahki Wells is the current EPL player with Burnley but was on loan to QPR last season. He helped get Huddersfield up to the Premier league before moving to Burnley.
Yeah Headley you got it. Clyde Best, a bit of a pioneer, that fella. West Ham. Here they have a street named for him and our National Academy trains at a facility named for him.

Thanks. The memory is not as good as it used to be. My consolation is that a lot of the space has been used.
Good to know he is honoured in Bermuda.

Haiti played in the World Cup before any English speaking Caribbean country

and Cuba played in the world cup before any other Caribbean country.
Only two English Caribbean countries ever played at the world cup so I never understood people who try to push an "English Speaking" Caribbean country rhetoric

Yes, there is something about the people from Haiti, they always seem to rise up although they have been through very hard times.
Haiti vs Canada will be a good QF to watch, I think.
On a side topic I heard Nicaragua had three of its players sent home because they bought escorts before their first game against Costa Rica. That's rough.
And poor Cuba's had to deal with player defections since their team arrived in the US.
